For Honor Tier List: Best Characters in the Game [2025 Update]

If you’re looking to make a difference in For Honor, I’ve got you covered! I have an updated tier list to share with you, looking at the unique playstyles of the available heroes and recommending the best for all skill levels.

Overall, the best characters in this tier list manage to stand out due to high general stats, strong abilities, and strong available upgrades. I am including the latest heroes, but also data from existing ones.

With these in mind, let’s jump right in and let’s check out my updated For Honor Tier List, with in-depth details for all the best characters in the game.

Tier S Characters

Heroes in the S-tier are the absolute best in the game and are great options to try if you’re looking for a new main. I’m listing them first, to make it easier to follow the list, then I will go in-depth, explaining my choices.

  • Conqueror
  • Jiang Jun
  • Afeera
  • Kyoshin
  • Warmonger
  • Shinobi

Let’s check out all the details on why I chose the heroes above as the best of the best.

Conqueror

A defensive juggernaut known for his shield bash and zone control, Conqueror can lock down areas and bully opponents with infinite chains.

His shield allows easy blocking and interruption, making him a nightmare to fight one-on-one or to dislodge in team fights. By far, one of the best (if not THE best) characters currently in the game.

Jiang Jun

For Honor Tier List - Best heroes and characters in the game - Jiang Jun.

Jiang Jun combines huge hitboxes, a hyper armor heavy attack, and an unblockable heavy attack and thus is considered one of the strongest heroes.

With exceptionally high damage, Jiang Jun is ideal for both 1v1 and team fight scenarios, especially when considering his extra stamina regeneration from his stance and his extra i-frames.

In terms of feats, use Deadly, Inspire, Soothing Mist, and any of the tier 4 options.

Afeera

One of the older heroes (introduced in 2023), Afeera has “good everything” in her kit, so it’s always an amazing choice.

Her fast mace and shield combos, bashes, and superior agility give her tools for every situation. Afeera is both strong and easy to pick up, making her a dominant force in 1v1 and 4v4 modes alike.

Kyoshin

Kyoshin’s fast light attacks and unblockable combos make him devastating, especially in gank scenarios.

He has a full-block Kaze Stance to counter attacks and flow into his own offense. Kyoshin’s mix-ups are difficult to predict, and he brings a strong balance of offense and defense that shines across skill levels.

Warmonger

Armed with the unique corruption feat, Warmonger applies damage-over-time that currently has no direct counter.

She also boasts strong zoning attacks, excelling in both duels and group fights. Warmonger’s ability to pressure multiple opponents and snowball fights keeps her at the top of the rankings.

Shinobi

Once considered weak, Shinobi’s rework turned him into a high-mobility menace. Despite some nerfs, his exceptional agility and ranged attacks (including a ranged guard break) keep him in S-tier today.

Shinobi can harass enemies from a distance and set up ganks with his sickle pulls, making him extremely valuable in team play.

Tier A Characters

A-tier heroes have great stats and abilities overall but they are a bit trickier to master than S-tier ones.

  • Black Prior
  • Hitokiri
  • Berserker
  • Kensei
  • Gryphon
  • Nuxia
  • Ocelotl
  • Warlord
  • Shaolin

Tier B Characters

B-tier heroes are more situational and less versatile than A-tier options but they are still strong overall.

  • Raider
  • Shaman
  • Medjay
  • Zhanhu
  • Jormungandr
  • Pirate
  • Nobushi
  • Shugoki
  • Centurion
  • Gladiator
  • Warden

Tier C Characters

Lastly, C-tier characters have been on the weaker side of the spectrum and I would recommend avoiding them, at least until they receive some buff.

  • Aramusha
  • Orochi
  • Peacekeeper
  • Highlander
  • Lawbringer
  • Valkyrie
  • Tiandi

If you really like the design of these characters, you should definitely try them out. After all, even C-tier characters can help you win games, including 1v1 duels and 4v4 encounters.

Wrapping up

To wrap up this For Honor tier list, Medjay, Jiang Jun, and Black Prior are the best characters in the game for both 1v1 and teamfight encounters.

Keep in mind that every character can be good with enough practice and you should feel free to try and master your favorite characters regardless of their rankings. After all, all tier lists are, to some extent, subjective.
