You’re in the draft phase. The clock is ticking. Do you lock in Valhein for the thousandth time, or do you pick a meta hero who actually scales and helps your team win?
With over 100 unique heroes in Arena of Valor, picking the “best” one feels like a massive challenge. The meta shifts, items change, and yesterday’s overpowered carry is today’s dead weight. But I am here to cut through the noise.
I’ve analyzed the current patch, the competitive scene, and high-ranking ladder play to bring you this updated AoV tier list. We aren’t just looking at win rates; we are looking at dominance. Let’s get started and see who actually belongs at the top.
How I’ve Ranked the Heroes (and Why You Should Care)
Tier lists are usually subjective. But to make this actually useful for you, I stripped away personal bias and looked at the cold hard facts of the battlefield. Here is how I determined each hero’s place:
- Impact on Teamfights: Can they consistently turn battles around or are generally dead weight?
- Versatility: Are they useful in multiple roles or builds, or can they truly excel in a particular situation?
- Skill Requirement vs. Reward: Can the hero perform reliably without demanding unrealistic skill levels?
- Current Meta and Recent Updates: I am taking into consideration the latest updates with nerfs and buffs and re-rank last year’s list.
With that established, let’s break down the best heroes in Arena of Valor, categorized by where they belong on the map.
S-Tier Heroes (The Meta Kings & Queens)
These are the heroes that define the current state of the game. If left open in the draft, they are usually picked or banned immediately.
Best Junglers
Nakroth

For years, Nakroth has been the gold standard for jungling, and he remains S-Tier. His mobility is unmatched, allowing him to split-push, steal objectives, and escape situations that would kill any other hero.
He requires fast fingers, but his ability to control the map tempo is unrivaled.
Keera

Magic damage in the jungle is terrifying, and Keera does it best. Her ability to move through walls makes her gank paths unpredictable. She deletes squishy targets instantly and has built-in untargetability to survive retaliation.
Best DS Lane (Solo Lane)
Florentino

In the right hands, Florentino has no counter. He was previously underestimated by new players due to his difficulty, but he is the undisputed king of the 1v1.
His flowers grant him endless dashes, crowd control immunity, and true damage. If you master him, you win the lane. Period.
Yena

Yena offers the perfect balance of silence, damage reduction, and burst. She can camp a bush and delete a carry before they can react, or dance around a teamfight in her dual-blade form. She is versatile and deadly.
Best Mid Lane
Liliana

Liliana is widely considered the most complete mage in AoV. She has long-range poke in human form and massive burst damage in fox form.
Her mobility allows her to roam to side lanes faster than almost any other mage. She is a playmaker who fits into every team composition.
Lorion

Lorion remains a top contender. His early game is oppressive because he wins almost every trade thanks to his electric orbs. In the late game, his ultimate is a massive area-of-effect crowd control that can single-handedly win a teamfight if placed correctly.
Best Dragon Lane (Marksman)
Hayate

Thanks to his true damage and mobility, he doesn’t need a support to babysit him as much as other marksmen. He can dash in, use his ultimate to melt the entire enemy team, and dash out. In a meta filled with tanky warriors, Hayate is essential.
Violet

Violet is the classic burst marksman. While Hayate provides sustained true damage, Violet offers safety and immediate heavy hits.
Her Tactical Fire (Ability 1) allows her to out-range opponents and poke them down before the fight even starts. She scales incredibly well into the late game.
Best Support
Thane

Thane is the ultimate frontline tank. He has incredible crowd control to peel for his carries, and his ultimate deals true damage execute, ensuring low-health enemies don’t escape. He is simple, effective, and brutal.
Wonder Woman

She is the most versatile pick here. You can play her in the jungle or DS lane, but she shines as an aggressive support. Her Lasso pulls enemies out of position, and her ultimate provides a massive shield to her entire team. She dictates the pace of the engagement.

A-Tier Heroes

A-Tier heroes are great choices that are one slight buff away from being considered broken. They stand strong in the meta, and you can never go wrong with them.
I am also listing them based on their role, to make everything easier.
A-Tier Jungle: Kaine, Yan, Butterfly, Kriknak, Paine, Eland’orr
A-Tier Mid: Tulen, Yue, Krixi, Iggy, Zata, Dirak, Lauriel
A-Tier DS Lane: Ryoma, Omen, Skud, Zuka, Bijan, Veres, Murad
A-Tier ADC: Stuart, Elsu, Capheny, Yorn, Teeri, Erin
A-Tier Support: Helen, Zip, Lumburr, Grakk, Baldum, Ming, Xeniel, Aya
B-Tier Heroes
B-Tier heroes offer great stats but are generally more situational. They aren’t necessarily “bad,” but they often require a specific team composition to work, or they are easily countered by S-Tier picks.
- Jungle: Zephys, Zill, Quillen, Bright, Errol, Fennik, Sinestrea.
- Mid: The Flash, Aleister, Ilumia, Azzen’Ka, Raz, Mganga, Kahlii, Jinnar, Diaochan, Bonnie.
- DS Lane: Allain, Airi, Riktor, Maloch, Arthur, Amily, Charlotte, Lu Bu, Qi, Volkath, Tachi, Astrid, Arduin.
- ADC: Slimz, Tel’Annas, Laville, Valhein, Brunhilda, Thorne, Celica (Brunhilda).
- Support: Rouie, Mina, Arum, Annette, Alice, Krizzix, Chaugnar, Peura (Replaced by Helen, but playstyle lives on in her), G’rakk.
Note on Valhein: I know that he is still pretty popular and easy to use, but in higher ranks, his lack of mobility gets him punished compared to Hayate or Violet.

C-Tier Heroes

These can work in very specific matchups. For example, Omega is great at stunning towers, and Kil’Groth is unstoppable late-game but takes too long to come online. Here’s the list:
- Omega
- Superman
- Wiro
- Preyta
- Marja
- Moren
- Wisp
- Lindis
- Enzo
- Natalya
- Veera
- Gildur
- Ignis
- Sephera
- Max
- Ata

D-Tier Heroes
Lastly, D-Tier heroes in this AoV tier list do not have a spot in the current meta. They lack damage or utility to make them worth picking, and they require a buff to find their spot again. Until then, I would recommend avoiding these heroes.
- Toro
- Taara
- Cresht
- Dextra
- Roxie
- Ishar
- Wukong (Great in low elo, easily countered in high elo)
Wrapping up
Despite these rankings, keep in mind that with enough practice, an A or B-tier hero can perform better than an S-Tier one that you don’t enjoy playing.
