Sims 4 is the latest and newest edition of the amazing simulator of life game – The Sims. You are able to do way more things than before and even play as your pets too. How can you play as your pet though?

Playing as your pet can be very fun! It will break the monotonous everyday game activities of you playing just as your real-life Sim.

How To Play As Your Pet In Sims 4?

First of all, of course, you will need to have the Cats & Dogs expansion for The Sims 4. 

Other than that you will also need the All Cheats Mod. To get this mod you can easily use this link that I have provided and you’ll be able to install it in an instant.

After you have installed the All Cheats Mod you will begin by opening it. You will need to press and hold CTRL + SHIFT + C on your keyboard.

This way you will get a cheat box to open on the top side of the left corner of your screen. You will write inside this cheat box the following:

• testingcheats true

After you have written that you will hit Enter and you will see that the Cheats have been enabled. This is what it should look like.

Now you will need to write the code to be able to actually play as your pet. You will write the following inside the cheat box as you’ve done before:

• pets.toggle_selectable _pets 

Now after you have written this, just hit ESC on your keyboard. This is for closing the cheat box.

Just like that, you will notice that on the bottom bar where your Sims would have been, you can see the pets that are in your possession. 

Simply click on them as you would for the Sims and you will be able to directly control them.

You can do whatever you want to do as a pet. You can go Sims and play with them, you can go potty outside wherever you want, you can purr if you’re happy as a cat, and so on.

That is how you will be able to play as your pet in the Sims 4.

How To Play As A Sim Again?

Maybe you have gotten tired of playing as a pet and instead want to turn back into a Sim again. Well, it is very simple really. You will open up the cheat box again by pressing the same buttons as you’ve opened it: CTRL + SHIFT + C. 

The cheat box will open up in the top left corner of your screen. You will write inside the cheat box the same thing as you did for playing as a pet. Write the following:

• pets.toggle_selectable_pets

After you have done this you will see that you will no longer be controlling your pet, and instead controlling your Sim. 

Just press on your Sim at the bottom and you’ll be back to plain old human life.

How To Install All Cheats Mod In Sims 4?

You will first need to go into your Sims Options menu. The settings option will be at the top right corner of your screen(or the window of the EA browser).

Then after you’ve done this, you will choose the Game Options.

While inside the Game Options you will want to click on the Other tab on the left.

Here you will want to make sure that Script Mode Allowed is enabled.

Also, make sure that the Enabled Custom Content and Mods too. This will be the one right above the Script Mods Allowed one. 

These 2 boxes must be ticked in order for the mod installation to be enabled and available.

Then after this is done, you will go ahead and click on the link for downloading the mod. Here just download the Script from the Patreon website.

Once you’ve downloaded it you will want to extract it into the following folder.

Once you’ve placed it inside the Mods folder under The Sims 4 game directory you will open the game and go to the Main Menu.

Now just press the Mods button inside the game and you will get to see AllCheats to be able to play with. Just click it once and hit Apply. This is how you’ll have the cheat box enabled.

What Pets Can You Control With This Mod?

This mod will only allow you to control the Dogs and the Cats that are in your household. 

Other than that, you won’t be able to control rodents, werewolves or smaller types of pets that can exist in the game. Also, other people’s pets would be out of reach for control too.

Can You Play As Your Pet On Xbox or PS?

No, you cannot. 

The main reason being is that you won’t be able to actually install any type of mods on the Xbox or Playstation. 

This won’t make it possible for you to enter the cheat box and actually type in the activity of the pet controlling code. 

Maybe someday this will change, but as of now, it is still not possible.

It also includes data that illustrate how many pets your animal rescuer has adopted, spayed, or re-homed over the course of their career. 

So that when they reach the end of their lives, they may look back and know that they actually made a difference.

Applied Animal Behaviorist Aspiration Mod

The Applied Animal Behaviorist ambition, which effectively implies they want to be the dog whisperer, this mod allows your Sims to get enthusiastic about them as well.

A Sim with this goal will constantly want to be around animals, befriending and teaching them to live in harmony with people and perform better in competitions.

You’ll still have to play with them and clean the floor sometimes, but it’ll be a lot more manageable.

When controlling the Pet too you will want to have more options to explore the things that you can do with them, instead of constantly doing the same things over and over again. Highly recommended mod!
