Pokémon Scarlet & Violet: Can You Replay Story Mode?

Are you excited to go through the amazing experience of the story mode once again but with a different starter Pokémon?  Or, do you maybe just want to play the brilliant storyline of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet again and relish it one more time?

Well, you’re not alone! Even though there’s no direct feature in the game to replay the story mode, the community has come to the rescue and has figured out a somewhat working solution to this very issue!

Can you Replay Story Mode in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

At the time of writing, there’s no direct method to replay the story mode of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. Once you’re done with the story mode, you can’t play it from the beginning again in the same Nintendo profile.

You may want to play the story mode again and pursue another storyline, in order to relive the excitement with a new starter Pokémon.

There are mainly two ways that you can replay the story mode of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet – Deleting Save Data and Creating a New Profile.

Creating a New Profile

In your Nintendo Switch Console, you can create up-to 8 different accounts or user profiles. The great thing about this feature is that each account has its own storage for saving game data and progress.

You can easily create a new account in your Nintendo Switch and start playing Pokemon Scarlet and Violet from the beginning in that account.

The progress will be recorded for the new account only, and the save data for the older account will be untouched. So, you can have two different progresses for the same game in your console.

In order to create a new profile in your Nintendo Switch, open the System Settings of the console. It’s the “gear” icon in the home screen.

After that, move down to the “User” menu. Select the “Add User” option, which should take you to a new screen.

Click on “Create New User” and click on your preferred profile icon from the options given by the game.

Next up, you’ll be prompted to choose your preferred Character and Background Color. This will help to identify your accounts more easily, so do make sure the avatar and color for both your accounts are different!

Almost there! Type in a distinctive nickname and proceed to the next step.

Finally, click on the “Sign In and Link” option to log in to your Nintendo account and connect it to the new user profile you just created.

That’s it! You’ll begin from the very start once you open the game, and the progress will be recorded will be completely unrelated to your other user account.

Now, if you’re unable to create a new user account for any unavoidable reason, don’t lose hope! There’s one more way!

Resetting Game Data

Before you start pursuing this method, you must know that all the data that was saved when you played the game for the first time will be deleted.

If you’re okay with that and still want to restart the game from the beginning, then this is a viable method for you.

Firstly, move to the “System Settings” of your Nintendo switch from the main screen. This option looks like the traditional “Settings” icon in Android phones – the “gear” symbol.

After that, navigate to the “Data Management” menu, and select “Delete Saved Data” at the bottom.

The list of games you own in your Nintendo Switch will be displayed, from which you should select Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.

When you do that, the resulting screen asks you whether you want to delete the saved data for the entire system or only for your particular account. Unless you have multiple user accounts in your Switch, choosing any option should be fine.

If you do have other profiles in the console, you should select the option that deletes saved files only from your particular profile.

Select “Delete Save Data” one more time in the final warning message. This will erase all your progress and saved data in the game. The next time you open the game, it’ll be reset to the original settings and you’ll start from the very beginning.

Wrapping Up

Clearly, creating a new user profile and playing Pokémon Scarlet and Violet is the better way to replay the story mode, at least for now. I don’t see that changing in the future, though.

But, as long as you can pursue any of the solutions mentioned above, you shouldn’t have an issue!
