Apex Girl Singles Guide: Everything You Need to Know

Recording and releasing singles in Apex Girl is not just the main way to make more money and get more fans, but it’s also one of the most fun things to do in the game.

If you want to master releasing singles in Apex Girl and maxing out your sales, read this guide that will tell you everything you need to know to always release hit songs – the best you possibly can.

Always select the right artists for the job!

If you don’t care too much about this feature, you can always hit the “Auto Assign” button and let the game choose for you – it will do a decent job, although it will never mix and match the perfect team.

If you want the best possible outcome from your single, you should always choose your single manually. And the best artists are not always the rarest/highest level ones, as you can see in my screenshot below:

What matters the most is matching, in this order, the three important things when recording:

  • The artist’s preferred position (Center, Vocalist, or Dancer)
  • The single’s genre (Pop, R&B, Hip Hop, etc)
  • The artist’s attribute (Elegant, Cute, etc)

If you have an artist that matches both the genre and the single’s attribute, make sure to place her in her favorite position (e.g. Zendaya – Center). If you have multiple artists that qualify, choose the highest level one with the most stars unlocked under their skills.

Usually, the best artists are the UR ones, but they have special unlocking mechanics. Read everything about unlocking UR artists in Apex Girl here.

Why skills are more important than an artist’s level?

Pretty soon after starting to play the game, you will be able to reach the “Awesome” score when recording singles easily. And currently, that’s all that matters – not the score itself.

In other words, the game treats equally an “Awesome” song with 200,000 points and one with 500,000 points.

What seems to matter the most is the number of times the artists activate their skills. This is why you should always choose the best ones you have in this area – the more skills are activated, the better your sales.

Here’s the result from my example single listed above (in terms of skills triggered):

And the sales of the single:

single sales

This is close to the maximum amount of sales I can get based on my current level, even though I have a Rare girl as a starter. No matter what I do, in my case, I won’t go over 202 million sales. But I can get a lot less if my singles score is below “Awesome” and/or if I don’t have enough skills triggered. The same goes for everybody.

IMPORTANT: Know your top artists and select singles based on that. You can refresh the three singles you can choose from if none match your top artists. If you need help with that, check out my tier list of the best girls in Apex Girl.

Also, know when their singles trigger: usually, the first triggers if you match the genre, the second can trigger in all types of singles, and the third triggers if the artist is in her favorite position.

This is important to know, because if you bring an artist as a back-up and she only has skills that unlock when playing in her favorite position, you gain very little from her.

Generic things to know

recording single screen

The things above are the most important when it comes to recording the best singles you possible can. There are a few technicalities that might matter and help you get better results.

1. Keep leveling up your singles’ stars. The more stars a single has, the more scenes you will shoot (increasing the overall score) and the more artists you can bring to record them.

My approach was to level up 1-star singles to 2-star first, then the 2-star to three stars and so on. This way, it’s pretty much even all over the board and all singles can max out sales.

2. Change the title of the song – while this has no impact over the game other than roleplaying, you can change the title of any single you record by tapping the small pen icon near the single’s title in the Artist Selection screen.

3. Skip everything: as soon as you unlock the feature, you can skip the actual video-recording session, as well as the sales of the single with no effect over the outcome.

4. Some things don’t work as they should – when recording singles, each skill triggered has a score. However, the game, for some reason, only rewards a much lower reward than the score you’re supposed to get.

Hopefully, this will be fixed soon, but know it’s a widespread bug if you’re geeky like me and start adding up those numbers and see they don’t match the amount of points you receive.

5. Don’t forget to put those singles on sale – each single has a limited lifespan. When they are no longer on sale, remove them and either record new singles or add new ones from the Pending Singles screen, so that you have a constant influx of money and fans.

6. Collection bonuses & VIP Level: These two will also influence your single’s performance. Collections are so big at the moment that you can easily get an “Awesome” score if you have a few unlocked and leveled up to level 10-15 each.

The VIP Level influences your sales after recording, but I won’t focus much on that, as you can only increase it by paying real money (or logging in daily – but it’s a long trip).

Wrapping up

If you don’t really care about this feature, just go with auto-assigning the artists and that’s it – you will only use a relatively small amount in terms of income generated by the singles.

But if you’re a perfectionist, the tips above should help you get the most out of each release. And if you want to get in-depth with even more features in the game, I recommend checking out the Apex Girl wiki here on Common Sense Gamer.
