Are you looking to create a base that you can use to create and sell resources and expand your territory? This Starfield outpost guide has you covered.
Having your base is a fun and interesting mechanic that gives you access to different gameplay mechanics and NPC interactions.
In this Starfield outpost guide, I will explain how to build outposts in the game and recommend the best planet for your outpost.

Starfield Outpost Guide – How to Build Outposts
To build an outpost in Starfield, equip the scanner, lay down an Outpost Beacon to claim the surrounding area, and access the tab menu to start building.
The scanner’s default hotkey is F/LB (PC/Xbox) and the Outpost Beacon is used with R/X (PC/Xbox).
Also, make sure to have enough aluminium and iron and you’ll be able to start building Power Sources, Resource Extractors, and more.
At first, you’ll only be able to build a limited number of outposts and only on certain planets. To build more outposts in various locations in Starfield, you’ll need to upgrade Planetary Habitation.
Each rank upgrade will allow you to create additional outposts and build in extreme conditions (Deep Freeze, Inferno, extreme pressure, toxic, and more).
Other upgrades that increase the efficiency of your outpost include Outpost Management (Science), Research Methods (Science), and Outpost Management (Social).
These will help with secondary functions of each outpost, such as the ability to add extra cargo links, robots, and crew, while also reducing craft and research costs.
Other than Power Sources and Resources Extractors, don’t forget to build turrets too as it’s important to protect your outposts from hostile fauna.
Best Planet for Your Outpost in Starfield
The best planet for your outpost in Starfield is Jemison in the Alpha Centauri star system or Andaphron in the Narion system.
When selecting a planet, your goal is to have access to as many necessary resources as possible.
To check the resources available on a planet, travel close by and open the map menu (default hotkey R/X on PC/Xbox). This way, you’ll be able to check all the available resources on that planet and decide if it’s worth building there.
Your goal is to place the outpost in a location where ti has access to multiple resources.
Wrapping up
To sum up this Starfield outpost guide, you can build an outpost by equipping the scanner and placing an outpost beacon. As long as you have the required resources, you’ll be good to go.
The best planet for your outpost depends on the resources you’re looking for but some of my favorite locations include Jemison and Andaphron.
How many outposts have you built so far? What’s your favorite building location? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
