Star Sailors Tier List: All Battle & Assist Partners Ranked

Before jumping into ranking all the characters in Star Sailors, let me congratulate Com2us for creating an RPG with Assist Partners. I simply hate the fact that most gacha RPGs give you 100 characters, out of which you will only use 5 at most.

With this out of the way, some in-game characters are still much better than others, and you want to know which are which, since you can truly bleed your upgrade materials dry before you even hit the mid-game.

Let’s prevent that from happening by taking a look at my updated Star Sailors tier list below!

First Things First: Rerolling

star sailors Caroline

If you’ve ever played a gacha RPG before, you know that rerolling is part of the struggle. You will restart the game as many times as it’s required for you to get at least an amazing character.

Or, if you’re like me, you will just do it until you get bored and end up with a worse character than the first you drew. But that’s another story…

To reroll correctly in Star Sailor, you must start the game with a guest account. Do not bind your account to an email or social login until you are happy with your lineup! You can’t reroll if your accounts are connected.

Now, here’s the quick guide on rerolling (aim for one of the characters in the S tier below):

  • Play through the game until you complete stage 1-5.
  • Do your first ten pulls as instructed by the game. This will always give you Caroline.
  • Click around the painfully slow UI to collect your in-game currency from the mail and event tabs.
  • Spend everything you got on character pull chances in the Banners menu (you will get around 20 Limited and 30 Standard summons).
  • If you don’t get a solid character, open the game’s menu, click into account settings, and hit ‘delete account’.
  • Start again as a guest and do it all again. Currently, this process takes about 15 minutes per run – it’s up for you to decide if it’s worth it (and how many times to do it).

With these out of the way, let’s see the ranked list of characters in the game!

Star Sailors Battle Partners Tier List

Star Sailors Characters

Your crew is split into two rosters: Battle Partners occupy your active fighting slots and deal the damage. Assist Partners sit on the bench, providing passive support and stat buffs. We’re talking about the first category below.

S Tier List

These are your absolute priorities. If you pull them, invest heavily in them as your main upgrade focus.

Heidi

The top AoE damage dealer in the game. Heidi scales exceptionally hard in Fire-focused teams, rewards squads that lean heavily on debuffs, and grants a critical rate buff to the entire team.

Note that she is currently flagged for a potential rebalance, but for now, she is an absolute beast.

Jen

Widely considered the absolute best tank available at launch, by yours truly here too. Jen operates as a hybrid defender-healer, providing reliable AoE healing, overall team damage reduction, and the ability to strip buffs away from enemies.

Nina

An elite single-target burst DPS unit equipped with self crit-rate buffs. Nina functions as a premier boss killer and excels during extended single-target encounters.

Carat

A highly flexible, free-to-play friendly attacker that features multi-hit bursts and critical buffs. Depending on the community source, her element is listed as either Light or Wind.

Kaira

A powerful hybrid healer and sub-DPS character. Kaira restores approximately 30 percent of the team’s maximum HP, features strong chain amps, and stands out as a safe choice for survival and damage output in major boss fights.

A Tier List

Erling

A highly reliable Water tank that lowers enemy resistance stats, shields teammates, and actively reduces incoming damage taken by allies.

Ethan

A single-target damage dealer that compresses offense and survival into a single slot by providing his own self-shielding and self-healing mechanics.

B Tier List

Rak

An AoE auto-taunt tank that utilizes chain amps to convert his own health pool into offensive damage. He works decently in the early campaign but falls behind in long or area-of-effect heavy encounters.

Soul

A single-target damage dealer with heavy chain amps that scale based on his current health points. He requires heavy investment to avoid falling off completely by the mid-game.

Iron

A single-target tank focused almost entirely on self-recovery. He brings very little utility to the rest of the team.

C Tier List

Remi

A free starter character who provides basic shields and minor critical chance increases to allies. Useful for the initial stages of the campaign but not worth any long-term upgrade materials.

Assist Partners

Star Sailors Character Chat

Assist characters sit on the bench and apply buffs, debuffs, and stat enhancements. You prioritize these based on passive impact rather than raw power, so here are the rankings:

S Tier Partners

Hunter K (Earth): A premier bench support unit who provides top passive value and should anchor your squad regardless of your active choices.

Gerbil (Light): A top-tier passive support character that carries incredible utility from the bench.

Iris (Light): An essential bench anchor that boosts overall team performance without needing active field time.

A Tier Partners

Dora (Water): A solid secondary bench option that fits well into Water elemental setups.

Jerry (Earth): Provides valuable stat enhancements to assist active Earth units.

Nutty (Earth): Helps round out the passive bench requirements for Earth-heavy team compositions.

Mui (Wind): A high-value passive support tailored to enhance Wind squads.

Simo (Wind): A free baseline character who assists your active combatants from the sidelines.

Sion (Light): Adds strong stat support to maximize the damage output of Light-based attackers.

B Tier Partners

Caroline (Fire): A baseline assistant given automatically during the early gacha tutorial. She serves as a basic stopgap until better options arrive.

Ed (Fire): A minor Fire-element bench filler meant to be replaced once resources allow.

Nadia (Water): A low-priority Water assistant used strictly to fill out element spreads in early team setups.

Hunter K, Gerbil, and Iris need to anchor your bench regardless of what active Battle Partners you are running.

Caroline, Ed, and Nadia are simply B-tier stopgaps you use while waiting for RNG to bless your account with better pulls.

Wrapping up

Do not let the pretty anime graphics fool you into making bad investments. Build around the S-tier units in Star Sailors, secure your bench with top-tier assists, and keep your upgrade materials locked away until you have the crew to justify spending them.
