Resonance Solstice blends deck-based combat, train management, and trading simulation into one strangely addictive package (and yes, I agree that all the in-game art has a role to play here).
Either way, apart from the beauty of the characters, there is some deep, solid gameplay that’s highly enjoyable. However, it might seem overwhelming at first, despite the hours-long tutorial.
Today, I am here to make things easier for you by sharing this complete Resonance Solstice guide, filled with tips and tricks for those boarding the Eternal for the first time – but also those with some experience. Let’s begin!
1. Adjust Settings Before You Start
Getting things started on the right foot will save you a ton of time. The story is nice and the art is even better, but sometimes you need things to go a bit faster. Here’s what to do (if you are playing on mobile, skip the PC-only tweaks):
- Hit ALT + Enter to go fullscreen instantly.
- In Settings – Gameplay, push Dialogue Speed to 4× and enable Auto Mode. This makes everything run faster, but is still manageable to read if you want to follow the story.
- If you’re rerolling in Resonance Solstice, use the option to Skip Cutscene constantly. Every scene is saved, anyway, in the Train Log, so you can watch later.
2. Go Through the Tutorial

This might be a bit too late if you’re already past that stage, but if you’re not – complete the tutorial and pay attention!
Depending on how involved you want to get with the story, it will last at least an hour, but you learn a lot about the game’s mechanics (crafting, trading, fatigue, deck control).
Even during the tutorial, though, you should try side missions and city events as soon as they appear. Many early cities hide small challenges, recruitable crew, or resource caches that don’t appear on the main route.
3. Manage Fatigue and Clarity
Two important meters quietly control your life on the rails: Fatigue and Clarity.
- Fatigue fuels almost everything: train travel, trading, crafting, haggling, even ramming debris. It regenerates slowly over time.
- Clarity powers combat encounters and also ticks back over time or via consumables.
Rest Areas restore both, but you have other ways to get more (it’s a gacha game after all!). Use Bento Boxes, affection drinks, and free towing through chaos-infested tracks to cut fatigue costs.
Plan your routes so each trip advances story, trade, and freight goals at once – never waste fuel or fatigue on half-empty runs.
4. Team Building: Roles, Resonance, and Setup

While there are many factors you should keep in mind when building your team (one of them being the characters you have), you should also keep in mind that, usually, synergy will be more important than raw stats.
If you’re just starting up, make sure you are aware of these basics when setting up your team/formation and choosing characters:
- Always field a Frontline tank, a healer/support, and fill the rest with your best DPS or utility (CC, debuffs, shields).
- Place durable units in front, fragile ones in mid or rear lines.
- Even though SSR cards are shiny and amazing, you can still get a lot from your SR cards, especially early on.
- Read every Resonance tree carefully; its passive upgrades shape your entire deck flow.
If you’re just starting, don’t waste too many resources on the more common cards, though. SR and above will be the ones you’ll use the most on the long term, and remember that you’re just getting used with the game: keep investments at a minimum until you’re sure you’re investing in characters you will use constantly.
And if you want to truly get an advantage in the game early on, make sure to read my previous article sharing the currently active Resonance Solstice codes you can redeem for various rewards.
5. Understanding Combat
Fights play out in real time with a five-unit crew. You drag and play cards to build combos and trigger ultimates from your selected leader.
Each enemy type carries its own resistances and weaknesses, viewable anytime in the Archive. Long-term, plan to build multiple crews for specialized content, but early on, just master one versatile lineup – getting through the story as quickly as possible unlocks more content and should be your main focus.
Card Color Reference
- Red: Attack and direct damage.
- Blue: Defense, shields, or mitigation.
- Green: Healing and regeneration.
- Yellow: Resource control (draw, retrieve, restore Cost).
- Purple: Special effects like summons, control, environments.
- Black: Unplayable cards that trigger when discarded.
- Orange: Rare, conditional power cards generated by combos.
Some cards mix types, so you should learn how each unit’s deck curves so you can chain efficiently instead of flooding the field with mismatched colors. This might seem a lot early on, but it gets easier as you play.

6. Learn the Art of Trading Early
Trading is the heartbeat of Resonance Solstice, and doing it right will give you a massive advantage. While some of these tips might seem common-sense, it’s good to have them all available at a glance:
- Buy low, sell high: This is the obvious rule you should always keep in mind.
- Prioritize Specialty Goods (yellow star). They fetch huge margins elsewhere, but only half the value where bought.
- Haggling can nudge prices further but isn’t guaranteed and costs fatigue – so use this sparingly, only when it matters.
- Check both shops: Every city has an HQ Shop and Local Shop with daily, weekly, and monthly stock limits.
- Use city systems:
- City Investment unlocks new trade goods.
- Warehouses let you stash cargo between runs.
- Manufacturing (crafting) converts cheap inputs into valuable outputs.
- BCRL Agency missions add combat income on the side.
Keep cargo space flexible for freight missions and lost cargo found on tracks. Passenger transport opens later at Conductor Level 30 once you obtain leaflets.
7. Handle Your Crew

Crew levels are tied to your Conductor Level, so you’ll never outpace your own rank – but even so, it’s easy to overspend if you’re not careful, investing in characters that you will never use.
Duplicate pulls automatically convert into Awakening materials, which strengthen your characters rather than clutter your roster. Focus early development on reliable SRs like Yejue and Fenia, which are always unlocked. While they are not among the top characters in the game, they are reliable and much better than more common ones.
Understanding Resonance and Awakening
- Resonance: Spends special resources to unlock new stat bonuses or passive effects tied to the character’s skills. It’s often more impactful than raw level-ups.
- Awakening: Increases base stats and sometimes unlocks visual effects or special interactions. Gained through duplicate pulls.
Gear Management
Each crew member has three equipment slots (Weapon, Armor, Accessory), each giving flat stats and multiple random affixes. Feed duplicate or weak items into stronger gear, but check rarity first – make sure you don’t accidentally scrap a solid item!
8. Spend Resources Wisely
Trading and getting resources is just part of the equation. The way you spend those resources matters a lot, and you should always strive to find the perfect balance between hoarding resources and spending liberally – neither is good.
The early game showers you with resources, making you thin that you will never lack any – but this is wrong. Don’t burn through them, especially not on things you won’t use long term. And since you’re just starting, you don’t really know what is useful or not – hence the reason to be considerate.
Here’s what to focus your resource spending on:
- Build one strong team first. You will simply not have enough resources to max out all characters, especially early on. Focus on your best characters first.
- Save your premium currency for limited banners that feature characters you actually want; chasing every rate-up will drain your stockpile quickly.
- Avoid over-crafting. Crafting drains fatigue and ingredients quickly, so stick to essential recipes like gold leaf or quest materials until you expand your train.
- Stock the NC Shop regularly. Its limited daily and weekly items (especially enhancement materials) are worth grabbing early.
- Save Chaos Stones: 160 converts into one Laplace Protocol for a summon, but only buy them when you’re short and aiming for something specific.
- Always check your mailbox and event tabs for free pulls and login bonuses before spending resources. You’ll get plenty of those regularly.

9. Use the Archive and In-Game Databases
The Archive is a massively underrated resource. It lists enemy traits, resistances, and weaknesses, plus gear and system explanations you won’t see in tooltips.
Use it to plan future team setups and identify what materials you’ll need for crafting or Resonance upgrades later on. If you’re theorycrafting, it’s your best research tool.
10. Upgrade Your Train Gradually

Your train is as vital as your crew. The first four cars are locked, but as your power rating grows, you’ll unlock additional cars (cargo, passenger, or specialized).
The front attachment helps clear obstacles, while the train gun becomes a combat tool in later missions. Every upgrade consumes power and may affect your top speed, so balance loadout efficiency with functionality.
Don’t rush to expand every system at once. Instead, invest where your current playstyle benefits most, for example, traders might favor extra cargo; combat-focused players may want enhanced defenses or energy efficiency. It’s your choice, but try to have a plan.
11. Important Note
Many of the people who rate Resonance Solstice as “just another gacha,” don’t really get all things right, as there is solid depth if you go beyond the autoplay and pretty faces.
First of all, it’s realistic (although unlikely) that after Day 3, you will have three SSRs – one from event pulls, on from resources you’ve gatheres, and the guaranteed one you get on Day 3. From here on, keep these things in mind:
- Combat isn’t auto-play fluff; timing and deck rhythm matter, especially in important battles. Pay attention and you can make a massive difference.
- Crew synergy and positioning define success more than rarity, in most cases. The game seems very well balanced from this point of view.
- Trading and crafting can out-earn combat when managed properly.
However, keep in mind that you’re free to take your time, optimize, experiment, and enjoy the world-building without pressure. After all – this is why we play games.
Wrapping up
The longer you play this game, the better you will get at it. However, keeping in mind everything I wrote above will help you better understand the game from the beginning and make better choices that will reward you in the later stages.
