No Man’s Sky: How to Get S-Class Living Frigates [Full Guide]

The Living Frigates are something that got added with the latest patch in No Man’s Sky. It is a very useful and interesting-looking Freighter type that is in the exact form as the Living Frigates. 

They can be found while traveling across space, just the same as any other freighter in the game. The chances to find them are a little bit lower than usual but still possible.

There are a couple of things that you need to pay attention to when trying to get it.

How To Get a Living Frigate in No Man’s Sky

It is actually extremely simple to obtain your first Living Frigate. All you have to do is jump around a few star systems till you come upon an event – this will automatically trigger after planet-hopping for a while.

When this event happens, all you have to do is save the ship that is being under attack by the pirates. 

However, obtaining an S-Class Living Frigate will necessitate some more actions.

How To Get an S-Class Living Frigate in No Man’s Sky

There are two ways of obtaining an S-Class living frigate.

You will need to do the dream aerial first in order to unlock the S-Class living frigate, and then continue with the anomaly detector.

Dream Aerial

After doing a ton of missions throughout the space you will receive the dream aerial blueprint in your inventory. This is what you will need to craft it:

• 3 Living Grass
• 1 Solar Mirror

To attract a living frigate, go into space while holding the dream aerial in your inventory. Simply ride your spaceship and use your ship’s pulse drive to go in any direction in free space. 

You will eventually get an incoming transmission. Turn off the pulse drive and accept the offer to communicate with the S-Class living frigate.

You will get asked a couple of questions. When the conversion with it will be finished you will then inspect it. If you are happy with it, you can decide to recruit it into your fleet.

Anomaly Detector

First of all, you will need to get an anomaly detector. Without this item, you won’t be able to find an S-Class living frigate.

The best way to obtain one is by shooting down asteroids in a row. The chances are not very high so it might take a while.

After you have achieved one anomaly detector, you shall need to activate it. Activating the detector will make it scan for all anomalies that can be found in your current and near star system.

After scanning multiple times (keep in mind that they are rare and you need to get lucky to find one) you will finally detect a living frigate.

Once you find one, make a pulse drive toward it and inspect it. When the inspection is done, you will find out if it is an S-Class living frigate or not.

 If it is one, the usual price for it is around 1 billion units. My recommendation is to buy one since they are very rare.

Where to Get an S-Class Living Frigate in No Man’s Sky

You can find an S-Class living frigate literally wherever you go in the space. You can be traveling everywhere and just keep detecting with your anomaly detector until you find one.

However, the biggest and highest chance for you to find one will be in a star system that has a 3-star economy.

Is There Only One S-Class Living Frigate Per Star System?

No. There are multiple S-Class living frigates that can be found in one star system. This is very good news since you’ll need all the luck in order to be able to obtain one. 

Also, this means that if you can’t get one, you can try your chance and find another one before moving to the next star system.

How To Have A Full Army Of Living Frigates

Just repeat this entire process. You will need to destroy a whole lot of Asteroids to keep getting more and more anomaly detectors.

Then once you have a lot of them, you will continue to travel through various 3 star systems and hope that you’ll be lucky and find a lot of living frigates.

Inspect the frigates that you’ll come across, and hope that it is an S-Class living frigate. It might take you a while but this is the only way of getting a full army of them.
