Megabonl’s Chaos Tome is one of the more difficult Tomes to unlock in the game – or at least one of the most confusing. It’s a tome that boosts a random stat, so always a gamble – but always good to have, nevertheless. Plus, it’s perfect for achievement hunters.
In today’s article, I will tell you both how to unlock it, but more importantly, I will share all the tips and tricks you need to know to actually get it faster and easier. After all, as you will see, you need precision, patience, and a clean Tier 3 run. Let’s jump right in!
How to Unlock the Chaos Tome
To unlock the Chaos Tome in Megabonk, you must charge every Charge Shrine on a Tier 3 run across all three stages without leaving the charge zone.
That means every shrine must be fully captured while you remain inside its circle from start to finish – even a split-second outside the zone will void the run. You can track shrine captures in the in-game menu – just remember that three standard upgrades are shown there by default, so don’t count those.
Tips to Unlock It Faster
The easiest way to get it is by playing the Forest map. I also recommend trying to get the Chaos Tome only when you know you can easily clear Tier 3 comfortably. Here are other things to keep in mind or do:
1. Use your strongest character
Tier 3 is unforgiving. Pick a build you can dominate with – for instance, my recommended Robinette gold-scaling build if you prefer ranged control, or the aggressive Vlad life-drain build for tankier play. Both are ideal for this type of run.
2. Don’t pick the Beacon
Avoid the Beacon item for the first two floors, as it complicates the objective. If it drops randomly, banish it right away.
3. Stay centered while capturing
When entering a charge zone, walk in a straight line and stand dead-center until it’s fully charged. Even minor movement, or being knocked a few pixels out invalidates the shrine – so you need to hold your ground.
4. Watch enemy spawn timings
Avoid entering zones right before mini-boss or swarm events, as knockbacks can ruin your capture. Learn spawn rhythms, so you can time captures safely between waves.
5. Use the minimap constantly
Shrines can spawn behind trees or in odd corners of the Forest – if that is indeed the map you choose to play. Check the minimap after every capture to avoid missing shrines.
6. Don’t rush near the boss area
At the start of the timer, skip the boss zone. You can safely capture shrines there later during overtime when the area is clearer.
7. Move carefully between shrines
The Forest map’s layout can trick you into overshooting hidden shrines. Take steady routes instead of dashing through. Slow and steady wins this one – and this goes for any other map you’re trying to get the Chaos Tome on.

Why the Chaos Tome Is Important
Unlike standard Tomes that focus on predictable scaling like Gold or Quantity, the Chaos Tome adds randomness that can redefine your run. It might boost your damage, speed, or gold gain or something completely unexpected.
It’s especially fun for advanced players who have already mastered consistent builds, since Chaos Tome injects just enough unpredictability to keep even perfected runs exciting.
Because the unlock conditions are strict, it’s also a badge of skill, completing it proves you can survive Tier 3 while maintaining flawless positional control.
