Hogwarts Legacy: Beasts Breeding Guide

Breeding beasts is a great way to increase the number of beasts in your vivarium in Hogwarts Legacy. This will allow you to produce even more resources that help upgrade your gear.

To breed beasts, players will need to construct a Beast Breeding Pen in the Room of Requirement after completing Deek’s sidequest “Foal of the Dead”.

Also, did you know that enemies can respawn after killing them? Consider checking out our guide on how to respawn enemies in the game for more details.

In this guide, I will explain how to breed beasts in Hogwarts Legacy and mention all the beasts that can be bred.

Players can breed beasts in their vivarium to increase the number of beasts they have. Here’s everything you need to do, step-by-step, to breed beasts in Hogwarts Legacy:

  1. Capture one male and one female of the beast type you want to breed.
  2. Complete Deek’s sidequest “Foal of the Dead” and conjure a breeding pen within the vivarium that has the beasts you want to breed.
  3. Interact with the breeding pen to select the male and female beasts you want to breed and start the breeding process.
  4. Wait 30 minutes until the two beasts produce offspring, which will complete the process.

The breeding pen spellcraft can be purchased at the Tomes and Scrolls shop in Hogsmeade, at the price of 1,000 coins. It is unlocked while progressing through the “Foal of the Dead” quest.

Additionally, keep in mind that young beasts that are made via breeding will never grow up and remain young forever. However, they will still produce resources normally after petting and feeding them.

  1. Diricawl – Diricawl Feather
  2. Fwooper – Fwooper Feather
  3. Giant Purple Toad – Toad Warts
  4. Graphorn – Graphorn Horn

  12. Unicorn – Unicorn Hair

As you can see, 12 of the 13 beasts can be bred. The only beast that can’t be bred in the game is the Phoenix, which produces Phoenix Feathers and requires completing the “Phoenix Rising” quest to be unlocked.

Why You Should Breed Beasts

There are two main reasons for breeding beasts in Hogwarts Legacy: resources and money.

Via breeding, players will be able to have more from one species of beasts, which in turn will yield them more resources every time they interact with beasts in the vivarium.

If you’re trying to get a specific gear upgrade and need a lot of Thestreal Hairs, breeding will help you get there faster.

The second reason is that selling animals is one of the best ways for making money in Hogwarts Legacy.

While all beasts sell at the same price regardless of species or rarity (shiny or not), breeding and selling beasts is a solid way to make some money on the side without any effort.
