Best Family Co-op/Party Games for PS5

When it comes to finding fun, family-friendly games to play on your PlayStation 5, finding the right one is a real challenge, one that usually ends up becoming frustrating before (if ever) becoming fun.

But I come to the rescue with this full list of the best PS5 co-op party games to play with your friends and family.

In this guide, I will show you exactly what to play based on your group size and skill level – with all the recommendations below being family-friendly and safe for the younger guests (while still extremely fun for all ages).

Just Dance 2026 Edition

Just Dance 2026 Edition

This one is great for larger groups and parties and more casual audiences. It also works great if you want to have fun and get some exercise, too.

The game showcases the dance moves, and your goal is to follow them as accurately as possible. You play against up to six players locally, and it can be great fun, especially if you don’t know how to dance and are just messing around

And here is the best news: you don’t even need a controller! You can use your phone camera to track your full body, making it a perfect choice even for non-gamers.

Split Fiction

Split Fiction Co-Op Gameplay

This game is the masterpiece – the best of the best when it comes to 2-player co-op games. Even if you’re not into co-op games, you have to play it – it’s THAT good!

You and your partner take control of Mio and Zoe, two authors who become trapped inside their own stories. And things get extremely interesting quickly, with a perfect interaction system between the characters and a true sense of cooperation with the other player.

The gameplay constantly throws unexpected mechanics at you, from riding gravity bikes to fighting a giant cat, also mixing flawless fantasy settings with sci-fi ones. Hazelight Studios are well-known for their co-op games, and this latest release from them is where they truly shine.

It Takes Two

It Takes Two

I recently finished this game together with my 13-year-old son, and we both loved it (yours truly even cried a bit).

Created by the same amazing team that’s behind Split Fiction, It Takes Two is a co-op game where two players have to work together and progress through the story by solving puzzles and playing minigames.

The learning curve is surprisingly forgiving for newer players, the settings are diverse enough to keep you both entertained and curious, and the overall experience is amazing, paired up with an AAA story. Trust me when I say that you will love it!

NOTE: Even though this sits below Split Fiction, I recommend playing It Takes Two first, as the former is better in terms of gameplay mechanics and visuals.

The Jackbox Party Pack 11

The Jackbox Party Pack 11

I am starting to feel that you simply cannot throw a successful party without a Jackbox game. It is fun, fast-paced, and also perfect for non-gamers, as everybody uses their smartphones as “controllers”.

You will find new ways to channel your inner comedian or trivia master through five different mini-games. I highly recommend this for icebreakers. It works perfectly for mixed age groups since there are family-friendly filters you can toggle on to keep the content clean.

Also, there are other Jackbox Party Packs out there, so it doesn’t necessarily have to be 11 – but this is the one I got after researching the minigames, and we’re always having heaps of fun with it. But you can explore and try a different one if you feel like.

Tetris Effect: Connected

Tetris Effect Connected is one of the best family coop games on PS5.

For a more chill but equally fun experience, the new Tetris game is definitely worth trying. With the Connected mode, up to three players collaborate to create as many lines as possible and beat the AI.

Tetris Effect: Connected stands out due to its amazing visuals and audio, as it provides a fresh look at a fan-favorite game.

Overcooked! All You Can Eat

Overcooked All You Can Eat is one of the best family coop games on PS5.

Overcooked is a co-op cooking game that will put your teamwork and communication skills to the test. You have to manage a kitchen and prepare multiple dishes at the same time.

The only way to achieve that is by setting roles and constantly communicating with your teammates while the customers keep requesting more food.

If you want to see how well you perform as a group under stress, Overcooked is a must-try. But be warned that this one can get pretty heated!

Sackboy: A Big Adventure

Sackboy A Big Adventure

I love this 3D platformer because it scales perfectly for different skill levels and works for up to four players.

The level design is brilliant, and the soundtrack perfectly complements the game, resulting in a experience all age groups will love.

There are even specific co-op-only levels where you have to interact smartly with your teammates to reach new areas, but not to the level of Split Fiction or It Takes Two. But overall, still an amazing choice for chill co-op gaming with the family.

Wrapping up

These are the best family party games on PS5 that you can try and have a good time playing in co-op mode. Thankfully, there is a variety of options to choose from, and all these games will allow you to have fun depending on your taste.
