It Takes Two

I recently finished this game together with my 13-year-old son, and we both loved it (yours truly even cried a bit).

Created by the same amazing team that’s behind Split Fiction, It Takes Two is a co-op game where two players have to work together and progress through the story by solving puzzles and playing minigames.

The learning curve is surprisingly forgiving for newer players, the settings are diverse enough to keep you both entertained and curious, and the overall experience is amazing, paired up with an AAA story. Trust me when I say that you will love it!

NOTE: Even though this sits below Split Fiction, I recommend playing It Takes Two first, as the former is better in terms of gameplay mechanics and visuals.

The Jackbox Party Pack 11

I am starting to feel that you simply cannot throw a successful party without a Jackbox game. It is fun, fast-paced, and also perfect for non-gamers, as everybody uses their smartphones as “controllers”.

You will find new ways to channel your inner comedian or trivia master through five different mini-games. I highly recommend this for icebreakers. It works perfectly for mixed age groups since there are family-friendly filters you can toggle on to keep the content clean.

Also, there are other Jackbox Party Packs out there, so it doesn’t necessarily have to be 11 – but this is the one I got after researching the minigames, and we’re always having heaps of fun with it. But you can explore and try a different one if you feel like.

Tetris Effect: Connected

For a more chill but equally fun experience, the new Tetris game is definitely worth trying. With the Connected mode, up to three players collaborate to create as many lines as possible and beat the AI.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure

I love this 3D platformer because it scales perfectly for different skill levels and works for up to four players.

The level design is brilliant, and the soundtrack perfectly complements the game, resulting in a experience all age groups will love.

There are even specific co-op-only levels where you have to interact smartly with your teammates to reach new areas, but not to the level of Split Fiction or It Takes Two. But overall, still an amazing choice for chill co-op gaming with the family.
