Genshin Impact: Geo Hypostasis Boss Guide

The Geo Hypostasis is one of the Normal Bosses in the Genshin Impact and like the name suggests, the source of Ascension material for the Geo Characters.

The Geo Hypostasis may not be extremely difficult to defeat but a lack of strategy and planning can result in you failing over and over again.

Similar to the other Normal Bosses like the Anemo Hypostasis, the weakness of the Geo Hypostasis can also be exploited with a certain methodical planning and team, which we’ll discuss today, in this Geo Hypostasis Boss Guide.

Without waiting any longer, let’s get on with it and take down Geo Hypostasis!

Where can I find Geo Hypostasis?

Guyun Stone Forest
Guyun Stone Forest

Before you can take Geo Hypostasis down, you need to locate and go up to the boss. The islands that are located on the eastern side of Liyue Harbor is where you should be headed.

Since these islands are quite difficult and time-consuming to reach just by walking, I’d suggest travelling to the Guyun Stone Forest first.

After that, you can walk by the areas around the cliff in the Guyun Stone Forest until you reach the island that has the Geo Hypostasis Arena.

That’s where you can find Geo Hypostasis and simply approaching should unlock the boss and start the battle.

How to defeat Geo Hypostasis?

Attacking the weak points of Geo Hypostasis should be your main goal to defeat the boss.

A key source of strength of this boss are the four pillars that it uses to launch attacks at you. The boss moves from one pillar to the other to carry out melee attacks.

But, the more dangerous part is where it uses the pillars to release Shockwaves and Tremors that can lower your HP by a great amount.

While the physical attacks from the boss can be dodged and avoided, the ones through the pillars are difficult to avoid.

Therefore, the most efficient way to initiate your attacks are to break the pillars.

Claymore attacks bring the greatest effectiveness when it comes to breaking these pillars. It’s important to have a character in your team who can carry out these claymore attacks and break the pillars first.

Once the pillars are down, the weak point of Geo Hypostasis will be easier to target, which is its core.

The core will be exposed every once in a while and when you see the window to attack the core, don’t wait for anything else and give it all you have with your best DPS character.

Repeatedly striking the core while bringing down the pillars is the key to defeating Geo Hypostasis.

Here’s a tip to get a larger window to attack the core: Using your claymore attacks, reduce the HP of the pillars and destroy it only when Geo Hypostasis is on top of the pillar.

This causes Geo Hypostasis to drop and gives you a great chance to rack up damage using your DPS characters that can execute Claymore attacks.

When you’ve broken all the pillars, the boss also has the ability to launch additional attacks on you.

The Hammerfall is one of those attacks where Geo Hypostasis turns itself into a hammer and cause damage by thumping down. The only counter to this is to quickly dodge and avoid when the animation begins.

The Stone Seal is another attack that will reduce your health. But, you’ll be warned a few seconds before it strikes and timely moving away will prevent any health loss.

Finally, when you’ve dealt enough damage and the boss’ health is close to zero, Geo Hypostasis will cause three pillars to form as last resort, and move itself to the center of the battleground.

You’ll need to use your Claymore-specialists again to deal as much damage as you can and destroy these pillars quickly.

Even if you’re incurring damage from elsewhere, just focus your Claymore attacks on the pillars. Furthermore, taking too much time to get rid of these pillars will enable Geo Hypostasis start regaining some of its health.

Once these pillars are gone, it will be the end of Geo Hypostasis.

Best Characters to Use against Geo Hypostasis

Defeating the Geo Hypostasis boss will require a deadly combination of characters, just like it was required to beat the Cryo Hypostasis.

Proper partnership between DPS and support characters can make it easier to target the weak points of Geo Hypostasis and get victory more easily.

Destroying the pillars is the key to defeating Geo Hypostasis. So, what’s better than using multiple characters that can initiate the Claymore attacks?

Therefore, the optimal characters that you should opt for are:

Noelle: Sub-DPS

Noelle
Noelle

Playing a key role in defeating the Cryo Regisvine and the Thunder Manifestation boss, Noelle also plays a staggering influence in beating Geo Hypostasis.

Noelle’s primary weapon is the Claymore; that’s why she’s a no-brainer while facing Geo Hypostasis.

The Claymore attacks of this Geo Character are deadly and causes a huge amount of damage, which will make it easier to bring down those pillars.

Beidou: Sub-DPS

One of the more prominent female characters in the game, Beidou is an Electron character whose weapon, similar to Noelle, is the Claymore. These Claymore attacks combined should help you destroy the pillars in a much shorter time.

Diluc: DPS

Diluc is a proper DPS character whom you can use to ensure maximum damage using his weapon, the Claymore.

Along with CRIT rate, he brings amazing offensive stats in the form of Claymore attacks, highly effective against Geo Hypostasis’ towers.

Zhongli: Support

Zhongli

Zhongli offers an impressive role as the Support and is the defensive backbone of the team.

Furthermore, Zhongli’s Elemental Skills do an impressive job in helping to destroy the pillars by causing significant damage.

An alternative to Zhongli can be Albedo, who’s also amazing when it comes to dealing excessive damage with the Elemental Skills, key to bringing down the pillars.

As you can see, I’ve taken a more reserved approach and only went with one DPS character in my team.

That doesn’t need to define yours, though! A combination of two DPS characters, a Sub-DPS and a Support should be more than capable in taking down Geo Hypostasis. Just make sure that your DPS characters’ weapon is the Claymore.

Geo Hypostasis Drops

Geo Hypostasis is the primary source of the Ascension material for Geo Characters, the Prithiva Topaz.

Successfully defeating Geo Hypostasis should definitely reward you with Prithiva Topaz Silver. At higher levels, there’s potential to earn Basalt Pillar, Prithiva Topaz Fragments, Chunks, and Gemstones among other rewards as well.

All these items are quite essential in order to level up your Geo Character, be it Zhongli or Albedo.

Geo Hypostasis Achievements

Apart from the rewards that you’ll earn, a few achievements are also unlocked once you beat Geo Hypostasis.

Juggernaut Achievement

Juggernaut is a one-star achievement that you can unlock if you can destroy all the towers or pillars that the boss summons to regain its health, when it’s extremely low in HP.

Your task would be to destroy these pillars before there’s any regeneration of HP. Along with the unlocking the achievement, you also get 10 Primogems.

A House Ill-Founded Achievement

Another one-star achievement with 5 Primogems as additional reward, this can be unlocked if you can destroy the pillars at the right time and make the boss drop to the ground thrice in the same battle!

None Stand Secure Achievement

This is the last and most difficult achievement that’s unlockable through defeating Geo Hypostasis.

It requires you to reduce the boss’ HP until it summons the revival pillars, but here’s the catch: you aren’t allowed to destroy any of the initial towers!

Kudos to you if you can unlock this daunting achievement!

Wrapping Up

Was it that difficult to defeat Geo Hypostasis? A good team with a well-planned strategy is good enough, in my opinion.

The Claymore attacks are a huge weakness for the Geo Hypostasis and spamming that while successfully dodging its attacks can easily land you triumph over this boss.
