Lumia Island is the setting of the main game mode of the game. In this guide, I will go over how to escape Lumia Island, in Eternal Return.
The Escape System allows players to escape Lumia Island without having to kill all other players.
To be able to escape, the player needs to obtain two items:
- A Regeneration Cuff
- A System Shutdown Code
The Regeneration Cuff and System Shutdown Code can then be crafted into a Rootkit. An announcement will be made to other players when the Rootkit is crafted.
After a short lockout period, the Rootkit will allow that player to hyperloop to the escape area, the Abandoned Dock.
If you want to know more about the game, and which characters to pick, check out our guide on the best characters for beginners, in Eternal Return.
Eternal Return: Information About Escaping
The escape process will only be available while there are at least 3 survivors left in Solo game mode, and 3 teams left in Duo and Squad game modes.
If two teams use the Rootkit, no further access to the escape area will be allowed. Upon entering the area in any team mode, all allies including eliminated ones will be revived inside the escape dock.
In Solo, if two players make it to the Abandoned Dock area, they’ll have the option of either escaping together or fighting for the privilege to use the submarine and escape.
In Team Modes, only one team can escape and must fight. The fight will take place in a small arena connected to the escape areas.
On a successful escape, a cutscene will play with the player or players boarding the submarine and making their escape. Afterward, a screen similar to the victory/defeat screen will appear and the game will end.
Eternal Return: How to Get a Regeneration Cuff
The Regeneration Cuff is one of the two mandatory items you will need in order to craft the Rootkit.
Regeneration Cuffs can be obtained through:
- Hunting mutants
- Hunting Wolfs or Bears (excluding their first spawns)
- Looting ally corpses in team modes when Rapid Reconstruction is no longer possible (Guaranteed drop)
Now that you know how to get the Regeneration Cuff, let’s go over how to use it in order to escape, in Eternal Return.
Eternal Return: How to Use a Regeneration Cuff
The Regeneration Cuff can then be used on any transfer console to hack it and gain access to a System Shutdown Code, which cost 50 Credits to acquire.
The Regeneration Cuff and System Shutdown Code can then be crafted into a Rootkit. An announcement will be made to other players when the Rootkit is crafted.
After a short lockout period, the Rootkit will allow that player to hyperloop to the escape area, the Abandoned Dock. It will be denoted by question marks on the map. This area can be accessed starting from day 3.
Players will no longer go back to Lumia Island once they’ve entered the escape area.
This is how you use the Regeneration Cuff in order to escape from Lumia Island, in Eternal Return.
