It’s time to take a look at the best base class in Last Epoch. This tier list will include all the base classes, ranked from best to worst.
All classes offer a unique experience and a different way to play, later augmented by the different Masteries you can branch out into. Speaking of which, you can check out the Last Epoch Masteries tier list here.
In this tier list, I will go over all the classes and what you get by choosing each one. Here is a list of all the classes you can choose from, ranked from best to worst:
- The Sentinel
- The Rogue
- The Primalist
- The Mage
- The Acolyte
Each base class has unique abilities, from powerful magic spells to agile, fast-paced combat, giving players endless customization and strategy options.
Last Epoch: The Acolyte
The Acolytes are the dark magic users and are a darker counterpart to the Mage. They thrive with Blood (Physical), Necrotic, and Poison damage.
The Acolyte can curse, and debuff enemies before unleashing her minions. Controlling minions is one of the class’s specialties. It can even use its own health to power its abilities.
As far as the Masteries of the class go you are offered three different ones.
- Lich: Deal direct damage by sacrificing your health (and sometimes your minions) to power her abilities.
- Necromancer: Focus on summoning minions, as an army, a single powerful entity, or even turn them into undead bombs.
- Warlock: It’s currently planned for release.
Even though all classes can use all damage types, each one of them excels in a few different of them.
The Acolyte’s playstyle supports Blood, Necrotic, and Poison damage. This also includes support for the status Bleed and Damned.
Her minions, unlike their master also have support for Fire, and Cold.
Last Epoch: The Mage
Every action RPG needs a Mage class, and Last Epoch is no different.
The Mages use elemental damage to destroy their foes, with Fire, Lightning, and Cold. This class also takes advantage of Ward which provides a strong defensive layer.
As far as the Masteries of the class go you are offered three different ones.
- Sorcerer: Typical mage playstyle of dealing damage through spells, often at range.
- Spellblade: use melee attacks together with spells and lots of Ward generation to create a unique playstyle.
- Runemaster: It’s currently planned for release.
Even though all classes can use all damage types, each one of them excels in a few different of them.
The Mage is a true elemental master, with all of its support centered around the Fire, Lightning, and Cold damage types. This also includes support for Ignite, Shock, Chill, and Frostbite (but not Electrify).
Last Epoch: The Primalist
The Primalist is a versatile class that fills several thematic roles.
The Primalist focuses on Physical, Lightning, Cold, and Poison damage. It also has a variety of defensive options including the highest support for Endurance of all of the classes.
As far as the Masteries of the class go you are offered three different ones.
- Beastmaster: Work together with your pets, and deal physical damage.
- Shaman: Focus on using a variety of tokens.
- Druid: Transform into different forms.
Even though all classes can use all damage types, each one of them excels in a few different of them.
The Primalist is second only to the Acolyte in supported damage types. It has a wide variety of support for Physical, Lightning, Cold, and Poison damage. It also has some support for Fire.
Last Epoch: The Rogue
If you like playing as a ninja, an assassin, or even a ranger, the Rouge is will be the class for you.
The Rouge focuses on Physical, and Poison damage. It also has good options for Fire, Cold, and Lightning. It also has access to Shadows, a unique mechanic that creates a copy of the Rogue and mimics the next skill used.
The Rouge also has the widest variety of defensive options at her disposal including, the most Dodge support and exclusive access to Glancing Blows Damage support.
As far as the Masteries of the class go you are offered three different ones.
- Bladedancer: Focused on melee attacks with some Throwing support.
- Marksman: Focuses on the use of Bows
- Falconer: It’s currently planned for release.
Even though all classes can use all damage types, each one of them excels in a few different of them.
The Rogue has a versatile toolkit with major support for Physical and Poison but also provides solid options for Fire, Cold, and Lightning.
Last Epoch: The Sentinel
The Sentinel is the typical Warrior or Knight type class.
The Sentinel focuses on melee (including the ability to dual wield), armor, and shields. It also has some of the highest support for Throwing Attacks in the game.
As far as the Masteries of the class go you are offered three different ones.
- Paladin: A tanky healer with multiple healing skills and strong support of Healing Effectiveness.
- Forge Guard: Focus on a more defensive playstyle, and the Bleed status.
- Void Knight: Focus on a more offensive playstyle, and Void damage.
Even though all classes can use all damage types, each one of them excels in a few different of them.
The Sentinel’s primary damage can be Void, Physical, and Fire, further extended by its significant support for Lightning, and the ailment Electrify through the skills of Javelin and Smite.
