Hogwarts Legacy is a vast game that combines story, exploration, and side quests.
Players have been wondering whether it’s possible to continue playing and exploring the map after completing the main story. The short answer is yes, players can keep playing after beating the main storyline.
In this guide, I will explain how to continue playing after finishing the main story in Hogwarts Legacy, as well as what to do.
If you’re wondering how many more hours of gameplay you’ve got, consider checking out our guide on how long the game takes to beat if you’re trying to complete every sidequest and collectible.
Can You Continue Playing Hogwarts Legacy after Completing the Main Story?
After finishing the main story and you see the end-game credits, Hogwarts Legacy is far from complete. You can keep playing the game normally and roam the open world without anyone stopping you.
Every area will still be accessible, and you’ll also have everything unlocked in terms of gear, outfits, and upgrades in the Room of Requirement. In short, you’ll have everything you need to complete any unfinished business you may have.
But what should you do now? Let’s see.
What to Do After Completing the Main Story in Hogwarts Legacy?
Now that you’ve finished the main story, it’s time to start completing anything you’ve left in Hogwarts Legacy. Ranging from sidequests to collectibles, here’s everything you should do after finishing the main story:
1. Complete All Side Quests
With 57 side quests available throughout the game, there are a lot of small storylines to follow.
These are unlocked by interacting with certain students while exploring Hogwarts. Keep in mind that some quests are available only during certain seasons. If you missed them, they’ll only become available after finishing the main story.
Thus, this is a great opportunity to complete any side quests you missed.
Also, don’t forget to check out our guides on how to complete two sidequests: Mer-ky Depths and Cache in the Castle.
2. Complete All Relationship Quests
Other than sidequests, there are three questlines involving relationship quests. This involves 32 quests and they are split into three questlines:
- Sebastian Sallow’s questline (Unlocks the three Unforgivable Curses)
- Natsai Onai’s (Natty’s) questline
- Poppy Sweeting’s questline
Completing these storylines will give you a better understanding of the back story of the three core side characters in Hogwarts Legacy.
3. Complete All Challenges & Gather All Collectibles
The game has a wide variety of collectibles and completing each category will provide different rewards, ranging from achievements to unique outfits and character bonuses. Here are all the collectibles in Hogwarts Legacy:
- 83 Floo Flames
- 95 Merlin Trials
- 20 Ancient Magic Hotspots
- 32 Baloon Sets
- 33 Demiguise Statues
- 2 Battle Arenas (3 if you have the Deluxe Edition)
- 5 Cairn Dungeons
- 18 Infamous Foes
- 12 Beasts to Breed/8 Plants to Grow/6 Potions to Brew
- 236 Field Guide Pages
- 15 Astronomy Tables
- 15 Butterflies
- 20 Landing Platforms
- 24 Challenges
- 16 House Tokens (Daedalian Keys sidequest)
Thankfully, these can be progressed during any point of the game, regardless of your progress in the main story.
4. Customize the Room of Requirement
If you’re feeling creative, you can also fully customize the Room of Requirement by making it fancy and efficient.
For instance, since you’ll need to breed beasts, grow plants, and brew potions to complete all collectibles, it’s a good opportunity to set up your vivarium, add more planting pots, and gather any potion ingredients you’re missing.
Visit the Tomes & Scrolls shop in Hogsmeade and buy every upgrade for the Room of Requirement. If you’re missing money, check out our guide on how to make money quickly in the game.
5. Unlock Every Achievement
The last thing I recommend doing is trying to 100% the game. While you’ll have unlocked most achievements by completing the previous activities, there are a few more needed.
This includes visiting certain locations such as the Headmaster’s upper study, messing around with spells and using Flipendo on a cow 10 times, and replaying the game up to the point of reaching the map chamber with each of the four houses.
6. Experiment With Mods
Modding is available for Hogwarts Legacy, albeit only on the Steam platform. If you want to try your luck, there are various unique mods on Steam.
The most notable one is HogWarp, which turns Hogwarts Legacy into a multiplayer game.
Wrapping up
To summarize, players can continue experiencing Hogwarts Legacy after completing the main story and there’s a lot to do.
For completionists, you’ve got more than a few hours of gameplay left and it’s a great opportunity to unlock all achievements.

I’ve completed every challenge except the dueling feats. I am on the wrap up quest to see professor Weasley. I’ve finished every side quest. Im going to have to do about 48 more dueling feats, and then finish around 45 more Merlin trials. After that I need to find the last of the field guide pages at Hogwarts because there are more than the challenge requires. I need some DLC!!!!
I couldn’t agree more, a DLC would be amazing! Unfortunately, they have no current plans for DLCs, so all we can do is wait and hope. Good luck with finishing everything!
