Torchlight Infinite: Best Moto Build

Commander Moto is one of the most relaxing but powerful characters to play in Torchlight Infinite.

Most of the battles and fights are dealt with by the minions summoned by Moto, which makes him relatively less stressful to play. But, that doesn’t mean, you can get away with a random build!

Choosing the skills, gears, and talents right is extremely important in order to come out on top as you progress; today, I’ll help you achieve just that by helping you make the best Moto build in Torchlight Infinite.

Best Moto Build in Torchlight Infinite

As you probably already know, Commander Moto’s playstyle involves minions. The minions fight your battles and kill the enemies while you play a role that’s more like a Support character. It’s quite exciting once you get the hang of it!

I’ve focused more on an offensive playstyle in this build to deal maximum damage, similar to Berserker’s build!

The low cooldown of summoning the minions and their attacking capabilities have also encouraged me to pursue an attacking build, especially towards the initial levels.

So, let’s take a look at the most optimal build for Moto in Torchlight Infinite!

Best Traits for Moto – Torchlight Infinite Moto Build

You get to have a choice when it comes to Moto traits for three different levels.

Level 32

Moto Build Level 32 Trait

Charge Forward is a more efficient choice than All In. Both come with very compelling stats and features; however, I think Charge Forward can come in handy during boss battles, as it increases Overload duration and Life Restoration speed.

Level 62

Moto Build Level 62 Trait

Last Stand clearly has the upper hand over Brothers in Arms for me. During Overload, the minions won’t die at all with the doubling up of restoration speed and they will also gain a considerable amount of damage-dealing capabilities.

Level 80

This is quite a difficult choice, but I’d go for Rest and Ready.

Yes, the minions do get a nerf without Overload, but it’s also increasing the Overload duration as well as providing a buff in damage counter.

If you can pair it up with Warhorn, which we’ll look into down the article, it can give you as much as 100% uptime!

Best Skills for Moto – Torchlight Infinite Moto Build

Summon Machine Guard

Initially, you’ll only have a choice between Summon Machine Guard and Compound Potion. I’ll definitely encourage you to go for Summon Machine Guard in both the skill slots.

The Summon Machine Guard skill summons two Minions to fight for you and the cooldown period is impressively low.

Therefore, having two Summon Machine Guard skills will get you four Minions and help you ace fights without any trouble toward the start.

Make sure you add the Minion Damage passive skill when available, followed by Precision Attacks.

But, as you level up, you should uninstall those secondary skills, and the final skillset that you should opt for includes: Mechanical Modification, Maniacal Army, Steamroll, Assault Command, and Precision Strike.

The Mechanical Modification and Maniacal Army are important to maximize the number of Minions that you can summon at a time. These skills combined with the Boss talent that we’ll look into later on, will help you get 3 minions at once!

You could also go for Critical Strike Damage Increase instead of Precision Strike only if you plan on leveling up the skill. The key advantage in making that move is that at max. Level, critical damage of the minions increases by 365%!

Blink

Once the third slot opens up, you should focus on improving mobility. Both Leap Attack and Blink are quite impressive and you should go for anyone that you like.

Blink does a great job of decreasing the cooldown period. It can come in handy during intense battles and is the one I prefer.

The passive skillset for Blink that I’d suggest are: Quick Mobility and Hardened. You could choose any other secondary skill instead of Hardened.

Machine Army

Machine Army is one of the best skills for Moto and is definitely a must-have!

Torchlight Infinite Moto Build Machine Army

The attacking speed and swiftness of the minions are greatly improved, which in turn, racks up the damage dealt in all the battles.

To achieve the maximum potential of this skill, keep your eyes on these secondary skillsets: Mass Effect, Cooldown Reduction, and Extended Duration.

Extended Duration does its part in increasing the minimal 3-second buff that Machine Army initially provides, while Cooldown Reduction makes it available quicker during fights. Go for Mass Effect first and the other two after.

Dark Gate

Torchlight Infinite Moto Build Dark Gate

The last skill to take up the slot would be the Dark Gate. The Dark Gate makes sure your minion army follows you and the given instructions much more efficiently than they already do.

It’s helped further by the buff in the minions’ movement speed as well as an increase in inflicted damage.

Extended Duration and Cooldown Reduction are the best sub-skills for Dark Gate.

Auras

Auras play a key part in the game as you progress further in the game. Not all Auras will be fitting for Moto, though.

Torchlight Infinite Moto Build Weapon Amplification Aura

One of the Auras that you must get is the Weapon Amplification. This does a great job in amping up the damage levels.

Auto Defense can be a good addition to help the defensive attributes in your build and ensure further protection.

The other Auras that you can go for are Swiftness or Fearless, depending on what you want. Swiftness gives you an improved speed while Fearless will further increase the damage count, especially CRIT damage.

Best Talents for Moto – Torchlight Infinite Moto Build

God of Machines

God of Machines is where you should start with when it comes to Talents for Moto.

Look to get those 20 talent points focusing mainly on damage buffs and then get your hands on Orders and Mighty Guard from the available talent options under God of Machines.

Torchlight Infinite Moto Build Orders
in God of Machines

Orders improves the Cast and Offensive swiftness of the Minions up to as high as 35% and can be a game-changer in the early stages by itself. Shrinkback is a good alternative too.

Mighty Guard does decrease the Minion aggressiveness; however, you may also notice that there’s an equal increase in aggressiveness at Tier 18 of the talent tree.

The increase in Skill Level by 3 steps is huge and much better than the features provided by the other Talents.

Machinist

Machinist is the next Talent tree that you should pursue. Look to get 18 Talent Points first and one of the talent unlocks should be the first Medium Talent on Tier 24, which increases Synthetic Troop skill level.

Torchlight Infinite Moto Build Synthetic Troop talent Machinist

Once you’ve reached 18, select the Boss feature from Machinist. And when you’ve got 36 talent points, Burning Aggression would be the perfect choice. This will improve the speed of the minions greatly while also making them more aggressive.

Alchemist

The Alchemist comes with lots of attacking boosts in the Talent tree, perfect for Moto.

Contingency seems to be the perfect ability to go for after 18 Talent points as it offers better and more profitable buffs than the other two, increasing Regeneration Speed and Mana.

Torchlight Infinite Moto Build Warhorn Alchemist Talent tree

The next unlock at 36 Talent Points must be Warhorn. Warhorn gives you the ability to increase the number of Minions that you can summon from a set of 6 to a set of 8! This can make a huge difference during the boss fights later down the game.

Best Gears for Moto – Torchlight Infinite Moto Build

Compared to the other characters, Moto probably requires the least amount of gear. But, there are a few gears that you should look to equip for better protection during fiery battles.

The Divine Arbiter’s Diadem Helmet

The Divine Arbiter’s Diadem Helmet is one of the STR helmets that you should keep an eye on. The Helmet comes with both cold resistance and lightning resistance, while providing buffs in fire and AoE damage.

Mountain Lord’s Chest Armor

It’s always a smart move to get a Chest Armor, since these help you last longer and take higher hits. The Mountain Lord’s chest armor is great for Moto, considering the increase in Minion Damage and Critical rating it provides.

Magic Belt

Equipping the Magic Belt is mainly for the increase in Mana and health regeneration. This is yet another defensive feature that helps you even more to focus on improving the offensive attributes through skills and talents. Magic Belt also gives great fire and cold resistance.

Interlocking Soul

Interlocking Soul is an excellent weapon for Moto. It has the most impact on amping up the Minion damage, while also playing a part in increasing Minion Life and Duration.

Wrapping Up

If you get the build right for Moto, it can be one of the strongest and most exciting characters to play in the game.

As long as you can dodge enemy attacks, properly summon and instruct the minions, you shouldn’t have much trouble to finish the campaign using Moto.
