Whiteout Survival: Complete Bear Hunt Guide

The icy chaos of Whiteout Survival becomes a lot more entertainment during the Bear Hunt event. And today, I’m here to share with you all the tips & tricks you know to make the most out of it.

This high-stakes alliance showdown is difficult, but filled with amazing rewards from resources to tokens and upgrade goodies. So grab your best heroes, gather your alliance, and learn everything about the Bear Hunt now!

The Basics

The Bear Hunt is an offensive event where your main goal is to deal as much damage as possible to the huge Raging Bear. No troop healing, no stress – just carnage for 30 minutes as the event goes before entering a cooldown period of 48 hours.

1. Bear Trap Placement

Strategically placing the Bear Trap is essential during the event. A poorly placed trap can sabotage your alliance’s efforts, leading to long marches and fewer rallies. Here’s how you should do it:

  • Keep it central, away from resource buildings and alliance borders to avoid placement conflicts.
  • Ensure open space for teleporting cities nearby.
  • Ensure all members can remain within alliance territory to leverage buffs.

2. Enhancing the Bear Trap

Before the hunt, alliance members can boost their chances by enhancing the Bear Trap.

Using Explosive Arrowheads, which you earn through Intel Missions, the trap can be leveled up to five, each step adding a troop attack bonus. Here are the requirements and buffs offered:

Enhancement LevelArrowheads NeededAttack Buff
12005%
230010%
340015%
450020%
550025%

Even after maxing the enhancement, players can continue donating Arrowheads for Alliance Tokens (200 tokens per Arrowhead). Just keep in mind that excess donations won’t carry over to future traps.

Strategies for Maximum Damage

Whiteout Survival - The Complete Bear Hunting Guide Rally

Things will be a bit different depending on the role you have. If you are the Rally Leader, there are a few more things you should take into account. We’ll go over everything below,

1. As a Rally Leader

Use heroes with high-level Expedition Skills focused on attack/damage dealing. Avoid defense or stamina reduction buffs as they’re not needed here since the bear doesn’t strike back. Always go for maximizing damage dealt.

Great heroes to act as rally leaders are Jeronimo, Hector, Bradley or Mia to mention the later generation-ones. Equip them with mythic-grade gear, also prioritizing lethality and attack buffs.

Ideally, invest in VIP Levels and Research for added boosts.

Other things to consider:

  • Chief Gear & Charms: Upgrade these for added troop attack and defense.
  • Pets: Refining pets boosts lethality – this is expensive, but useful for the long term.
  • Daybreak Island: Build and upgrade decorations that enhance troop stats.
  • Rally Size: Increase through research and Command Center upgrades to allow more people to join.

2. As a Rally Joiner

Only the first hero in your lineup contributes their Expedition Skill to the rally buff, so make sure you choose your best for the job.

Just like the rally leader, you should only focus on those heroes that maximize damage, like the few examples below:

Hero TierExamplesEffect
S TierJessie, Jasser, Seo-yoon, Reina, Jeronimo, Hector BradleyDirect attack/damage increases
A TierMia, Philly, Norah, EdithModerate buffs with situational perks
B TierLynn, GordonDamage bonuses with lower reliability

3. Strategies for both leaders and joiners

Focus on troop builds with maximum damage, like marksmen and lancers. There is no need to send in infantry units. If possible, go for a ratio of 60% Marksmen and 40% Lancers.

Rewards from the event

Rewards are dished out based on personal and alliance-wide damage caused to the bear. The more you contribute, the bigger your haul: you will get resources, Essence Stones, Lucky Hero Gear Chests, and more.

The alliance rewards will also be based on the total damage dealt. You will initially receive Alliance Tokens and Sergey Shards, with the latter eventually being replaced with Essence Stones for gear upgrades, after your alliance is in the Fire Crystal Age.

Additional Tips & Tricks

Now, here are all the strategies you should use to max out everything about the Bear Hunt event in Whiteout Survival:

Spacing Out Rallies

Coordinate rallies to keep the bear constantly under attack. Aim for a new rally every 30 seconds, if possible.

Designate rally leaders and joiners in advance to minimize chaos. Have backup leaders ready if the primary ones are unavailable.

Use speed boosts to minimize the downtime between these rallies, start with minimal troops to keep your main force available for other rallies and prepare your heroes with gear before the event begins.

IMPORTANT: Make sure that you start the Bear Hunt when most of your alliance members are active (can be tricky if multiple time zones are involved). At least make sure that the main superpowers are present.

Temporary Buffs

Use temporary items or consumables that increase troop march capacity or attack stats during the event to max out your performance.

Battle-Optimized Research & Buffs

Prioritize research paths that unlock march size expansions or specific attack boosts.

If gems are available, activate city buffs that enhance troop lethality or attack.

Hero Leveling

Increase your hero levels just before the event to expand your march size. Also, make sure you don’t neglect formations. A poorly planned march can negate bonuses, just as much as using the wrong heroes can.

Skill Priority Rotation

Rotate heroes to maximize buffs. If a rally joiner with a high-level skill has limited stamina, ensure they’re prioritized for earlier rallies where their skills can have the most impact.

The Bear Hunt is one of Whiteout Survival’s most fun events. Fast paced but extremely rewarding, it’s one every member of your alliance should take advantage of.
