High School Dirty Secrets will launch on November 6, 2025, for PlayStation 5 and Steam. But what is this HSDS you’re probably hearing about for the first time now?
Well… it’s shaping up to be a psychological horror ride that mixes anime aesthetics with the creeping dread of classic survival horror (think Doki Doki Literature Club crossed with Silent Hill 2).
Players step into the shoes of Kasuga, a popular student who wakes up locked inside her high school with no memory of how she got there.
The familiar halls quickly turn into a twisted nightmare – strange entities lurk in the shadows, and her smartphone starts receiving cryptic messages from… someone (or something) that clearly knows more than she does.

Unlike the usual walking-sim spookfests, High School Dirty Secrets plays around with perspective switching, jumping between third- and first-person viewpoints, and leans on puzzle-solving instead of cheap jump scares.
Your phone isn’t just a gimmick either: it’s your main tool for recording clues, taking photos, and keeping track of the nightmare unraveling around you. And there won’t be just nightmares around – at least not when we’re talking about the main character, who delivers some real eye candy.
Just look at the announcement trailer to see what I mean (and the featured photo above):
Visually, the game takes a full-on anime-inspired 3D approach, which might fool you into expecting a cute dating sim – until the walls start whispering and the texts turn hostile. But at least the physics seem to be done well in all the right places…

So far, High School Dirty Secrets looks like it could become a hit with that uneasy mix of psychological tension and visual novel storytelling, as well as a charming lead character.
Whether Kasuga manages to escape or not is on you – and your ability to keep calm when the phone starts buzzing again, but I’m sure you won’t mind trying over and over again.
You can already wishlist it on Steam (or play the demo), but it’s also coming soon to PS5.
