Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: How to Catch Applin and Evolve into Flapple & Appletun

Applin is a cute Pokémon that’s actually a worm-like creature, but has the shape of an apple. Applin may not have the best stats, but it sure is able to evolve into two splendid Pokémon, Flapple and Appletun.  

It can be somewhat difficult to catch, though, since it’s relatively rarer than others and found on top of trees.

But, I’m here to make life easier! Through this article, I’ll help you catch Applin in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet, and guide you through the evolution process of this Mon to Flapper & Appletun.

How to Catch Applin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

Applin can be caught from the trees in Tagtree Thicket. Tagtree Thicket is located on the north-west of East Province (Area Three) and north of Zapapico.

It should be mentioned that Applin can actually be found in a large number of places around Paldea, on top of the trees. But, since Tagtree Thicket is known for having a lot of trees, our chances of catching an Applin here is relatively higher.

As you walk past the large trees, look closely between the branches and search for a red-colored creature, that resembles a red apple. It may take a while to find one, so don’t lose hope!

Catching the Pokemon is the tricky part. You can only interact and battle against Applin once it’s on the ground.

Take your Pokeball and carefully aim it at the Pokemon. Throw it only when you’re sure it will hit Applin. This will cause it to fall from the tree and start the battle.

After that, it’s the same, old process of catching Pokemon. Make sure you lower its health to a minimum, preferably to the “Red” level, and then throw a Pokeball to catch it.

Normal Pokeball and Great balls will be able to catch Applin. Beast balls and Dream balls aren’t necessary in this regard; you can use a Dusk ball if it’s nighttime, though.

Now that you’ve caught this Dragon/Grass type Pokémon, it’s time to evolve Applin into Flapple or Appletun, depending on your preference.

But, the best part about this is that these Pokémon aren’t version-exclusive. You can get both Flapple and Appletun in the game if you want to, regardless of the version you’re playing. If you want both, you’ll need two of Applin as well.

How to evolve Applin into Flapple in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet?

You will need to use the item, Tart Apple, on Applin for its evolution into Flapple.

Tart Apple can be found in any branch of the Delibird Presents shop. This shop is located in the cities of Mesagoza, Levincia, and Cascarrafa. On top of that, there’s more than one branches in each city.

Whenever you see the icon above (inside the red box) on the map, there’s a chance that it’s the Delibird Presents shop. It shares the icon with a few other shops, so make sure you check the name before going towards it.

Delibird Presents sells quite a few of the Pokemon essentials in the game, such as the Power Items, Metal Coat, Fire Stone, and more!

You can find Tart Apple in any of the branches in the three cities.

Click on “General Goods” when you enter the Delibird Presents. Tart Apple is sold in Delibird Presents for 2,200 Pokedollars.

After you’ve purchased the item, navigate to the “Other Items” section of your Bag. Scroll down to “Tart Apple” and select the item.

Click on “Use this Item” from the resulting options, and then select Applin from the list of Pokemon on the left.

And, that’s that! A brilliant animation will showcase your Applin evolving into Flapple and add the Pokemon to your Pokedex!

How to evolve Applin into Appletun in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet?

Applin can be evolved into Appletun with the item, Sweet Apple.

Just like Tart Apple, Sweet Apple can also be purchased from Delibird Presents shop. The shop is present in Levincia, Mesagoza, and Cascarrafa, with multiple branches in each city.

I’ve shared the icon for Delibird Presents above; look for it on the map, and you should be able to locate the shop easily in any of the three cities.

Once again, when you enter the shop, select the “General Goods” option.

From the list of items, Sweet Apple should be present towards the top, costing the same as Tart Apple – 2,200 Pokedollars.

Sweet Apple will be available in the “Other Items” section of your Bag. Click on the item and select the “Use this Item” option.

Find Applin from the list of Pokémon on the left, and clicking on it will initiate the evolution process. The resulting animation will display Applin turning into Appletun, and your job of evolving the Pokémon is done!

Wrapping Up

Flapple and Appletun are both impressively strong, but in different ways. Although both are Grass/Dragon types, Appletun boasts a great deal of HP and Sp. Attack, whereas Flapple is great when it comes to Physical Attack and Speed.

It’s not so much of a grind to catch Applin and evolve it into one or both of its evolution forms, which makes it all the more convenient. EV training these Pokemon will definitely make them even stronger and aid you better during battles.
