HoYoverse, the studio behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, just revealed its next big project – and this one isn’t another gacha RPG. Quite the contrary – it’s a game that follows the growing popularity of cozy titles (and seems to be doing it well!)
The devs are trying their hand at the new genre and a completely different vibe with Petit Planet, a cosmic-themed life sim where players build, farm, and hang out with fuzzy neighbors across the galaxy.
The reveal came earlier today, with HoYoverse confirming that Petit Planet will hit PC and mobile first, with other platforms in development. A closed beta, dubbed the Coziness Test, is already open for sign-ups through the game’s official site.
For a cutesy first look at this relaxing game, check out the first trailer below:
Petit Planet puts players in charge of their own tiny world, with the goal of nurturing it into a thriving planet and eventually connecting with others across the stars. Expect the usual life sim activities: farming, fishing, mining, cooking, and decorating, but on an interstellar scale.
Companions called “Neighbors” act as both NPCs and traveling buddies, each with their own quirks and backstories and, as we can all see clearly from the first bits of media released, everything in the game has a big “Aww” factor.
In other words, Petit Planet sticks to a colorful, cartoony style, closer to Animal Crossing than the anime aesthetic HoYoverse is known for. That makes this a major pivot for a studio usually associated with heavy-hitting RPGs and gacha systems – and a welcome one too.

The game leans heavily on social features too, letting players team up for voyages to new islands, trade at a Galactic Bazaar hub, and join seasonal events. Here are a couple of screenshots that I really liked (and I am sure you will too):

For HoYoverse fans used to grinding dailies in Star Rail or Zenless Zone Zero, Petit Planet looks like a serious chill-out alternative – though we’ll have to see how monetization is handled. The closed beta will give the first answers when testers get in.
