Hotel Galactic Invites Players to Build a Cosmic Dream – in Early Access Now

Ancient Forge, the Polish indie studio that made waves with their acclaimed landlord simulator The Tenants, has launched its latest venture into the simulation genre with Hotel Galactic.

Released today in Early Access on Steam, the title offers players a richly illustrated journey into cosmic hospitality, where the only limit is imagination.

A Hand-Painted Universe for Simulation Fans

Set atop a floating island in the depths of space, Hotel Galactic tasks players with transforming a dilapidated hotel into an interstellar tourist haven. So, an Elder Scrolls: Castles in a different setting (and on steroids).

Borrowing the building mechanics and resource management sensibilities that defined The Tenants, the game leans into a more whimsical, story-driven approach, drawing visual inspiration from classic anime and storybook fairy tales.

At launch, players are introduced to the first act of a planned three-part narrative, exploring themes of redemption, friendship, and kindness.

The Early Access version features six distinct alien species, dozens of eccentric NPCs, and the first appearance of a VIP guest, whose stay can make or break a hotelier’s reputation.

Much like its predecessor, Hotel Galactic promises a development roadmap shaped by player feedback.

Ancient Forge credits this community-driven model for the enduring popularity of The Tenants, which sold over 500,000 copies after a successful Early Access campaign.

For Hotel Galactic, the studio pledges frequent updates, with new alien species, guest types, quests, and gameplay systems – such as advanced mining, creature kinship, and hotel expeditions – set to roll out ahead of the full 1.0 release.

Game Features

Players can construct and decorate their hotels room by room, manage staff, prepare new meals, and tend to the diverse needs of intergalactic guests.

The simulation extends to farming, crafting, and skill development, while an expansive research tree allows for unique upgrades and customizations.

The art style, entirely hand-painted, has drawn early praise for its warmth and intricate detail – a standout in a genre dominated by minimalist graphics.

Hotel Galactic is now available on Steam in Early Access for $34.99. The release is accompanied by a prequel webcomic exploring the backstory of central character Marietta – which you can check out here.

As the studio doubles down on player involvement, the game is positioned as a spiritual successor not only to The Tenants, but to the broader tradition of creative, community-first indie simulations.
