Ever looked around your Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy and thought, “Why did I place that giant hippogriff statue in the middle of my potion station?”
Don’t worry – you’re not stuck with it forever. Whether it’s a poorly placed rug or a cauldron that no longer seems to fit, the Evanesco spell has you covered.
The Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy is similar to the housing system in other games. Players can customize their space and set utilities to help them brew potions, grow herbs, and more.
One important part of fully customizing your Room of Requirement is through un-conjuring items. This process can be done by using the Evanesco spell.
If you’re still on your quest to unlock the Room of Requirement, consider checking out our guide on how to open the two chests in the Room of Hidden Things.
In this guide, I will explain how to un-conjure items in the Room of Requirement by using the Evanesco spell, as well as how to conjure and edit objects within the room.
How to Un-Conjure Items in the Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy
Un-conjuring items might sound like a fancy way to say “cleaning up,” but it’s so much more satisfying when you’re waving a wand to do it.
Using the Evanesco Spell
The first spell players learn in the Room of Requirement is Evanesco. This is used to make items disappear and players will first use it on certain piles of chairs that are blocking their way.
Here’s how to use it:
- Equip the Spell:
- Assign Evanesco to one of your spell slots. If you haven’t done this yet, open your spell menu and drag it to a slot.
- Target the Item:
- Aim your wand at the item you want to remove. A glow around the object will indicate it’s ready to be un-conjured.
- Cast Evanesco:
- Use the assigned spell button to cast Evanesco. The item will vanish into magical thin air, and you’ll instantly recover all the moonstone used to conjure it.

How to Conjure Items in the Room of Requirement
To un-conjure items in the game, you need to have them placed first. This is where the Conjuring spell comes in – and here’s my quick guide on how to use it:
- Equip the Conjuring Spell:
- Like Evanesco, assign Conjuring to one of your spell slots.
- Choose an Item:
- Open the Conjuration menu. Here, you’ll find everything you’ve unlocked, from practical utilities like potting tables to purely aesthetic decorations like rugs and paintings.
- Place the Item:
- Select the item and place it anywhere in your Room of Requirement. Don’t worry if it looks odd – you can always move it later.
Unlocking More Items
Customization is only as good as your options, so here’s how to expand your collection:
- Open Chests: Hidden chests around the world often contain new recipes for furniture and decor.
- Shop at Tomes and Scrolls: Located in Hogsmeade, this shop sells additional recipes. Bring your Galleons – you’ll want to splurge.

How to Edit Items in the Room of Requirement in Hogwarts Legacy
The last spell in the Room of Requirement is the Altering spell, which allows players to edit the position, size, and color of each item.
This is ideal for re-styling your Room of Requirement to fit everything according to the style you like.
Design a Gryffindor-themed corner by sticking to red and gold furnishings, or create a potion lab with darker, mysterious elements for a more immersive feel. Or just place everything randomly – it’s your choice!
And speaking about your style, if you’re worried that you’re going to lose it all, read our previous article explaining whether or not you can continue playing the game after completing the main story.
Tips for Mastering Room of Requirement Customization
While conjuring and un-conjuring items is an important part of the process, making your room PERFECT requires some time and dedication. You’re not required to do it, but you will feel much better doing it! Here are my tips for getting the most out of it:
Experiment Freely: Thanks to Evanesco, you can try new layouts without worrying about wasting moonstone.
Think Thematically: Create spaces with specific vibes—like a green-thumb-friendly herbology corner or a gothic potion lab.
Maximize Utility: Place your brewing stations and potting tables close together for efficiency. You’ll thank yourself when you’re rushing to brew Wiggenweld Potions.
Collect Moonstone Regularly: You can find moonstone scattered around the open world. Stock up whenever you see it – you’ll need plenty for larger projects.
Common Problems and Solutions
While everything is pretty straightforward, you might run into some minor problems – I’m listing the most common ones below, as well as the easy solution for each of them.
- “I Can’t Un-Conjure an Item”:
- Some items tied to quests or the room’s structure can’t be removed. Focus on purely decorative or utility items.
- “I Ran Out of Moonstone”:
- Go exploring! Moonstone regenerates in the world, and it’s often found near cliffs or rocky areas.
- “My Room Feels Too Cluttered”:
- Use Evanesco liberally. Decluttering your space can make it feel more magical and functional.
