For this puzzle, players will need to locate three sets of glowing moths nearby. Then, with Lumos, they should guide these moths to the three pillars, which will complete the trial.

How to Solve Merlin’s Trial with Moonstone Pillars in Hogwarts Legacy

You can spot these trials anywhere in the open world and they stand out because there are three short pillars right next to the starting spot of the trial with vines around them and moonstone inside.

Here’s everything you need to do to solve these trials.

1. Place Mallosweet Leaves on the Starting Spot.

First, make sure to come prepared with Mallosweet Leaves, as they are needed to activate the trial.

2. Locate Nearby Glowing Moths

After activating the trial, check around you and try to spot a set of glowing moths. They will have a distinct glow and won’t spawn too far from the starting location.

Sometimes, they can be behind hills or cliffs, so you may have to move around a bit to spot them.

3. Cast Lumos to Guide the Moths to the Pillars

Use Lumos to make the moths follow you and bring them to the pillar.

Navigate to the closest moths you spotted and use the Lumos spell. This will make them follow you and your goal now is to guide them to one of the pillars.

However, keep in mind that climbing even the smallest hill will remove Lumos from your wand and you’ll have to recast it.
