Progressing in Disney Dreamlight Valley is done by unlocking new biomes. The Sunlit Plateau is one of the end-game biomes in the game.
It includes a wide variety of new ingredients and quests, as well as hints on what will be added to the game in the future.
In this guide, I’ll explain how to unlock the Sunlit Plateau biome fully, list all new materials found there, and guide you towards your next steps after completing this biome.
How to Unlock the Sunlit Plateau Biome
The Sunlit Plateau is located just left of the Village Plaza and above the Glade of Trust. It can only be accessed via the Village Plaza and costs 7.000 dreamlight to unlock.
It is the next recommended step after completing the Glade of Trust biome and gathering all of its materials.
How to Remove Bones and Unlock the Second Part of Sunlit Plateau
Similar to the Glave of Trust biome, the Sunlit Plateau is split into two parts. These are separated by a bridge blocked by bones.
However, for the moment, there is no way to destroy those bones and unlock the second party of Sunlit Plateau. Players will have to make do with only half of the map.
Even if players fully upgrade each of their tools, there’s still no way to break the bones.
We can guess that the second part of the map will be unlocked with the power of one (or more) of the upcoming characters. Perhaps something from Lion King?

All New Materials in Sunlit Plateau
Even though players are limited to the first half of the map, there’s a wide variety of new materials.
Other than the classic herbs, seeds, and flowers, what stands out the most is the new gold ore. Gold will be a key resource for many quests and is the next upgrade from iron.
Here’s a list of all the new materials encountered in the Sunlit Plateau.
- Vanilla
- Dry Wood
- Soya Seed (Gathered by Clearing Thorns)
- Gold Ore
- Tourmaline
- Red Bromeliad
- Pink Bromeliad
- Yellow Bromeliad
- Orange Houseleek
- Pink Houseleek
- Yellow Houseleek
- Chili Pepper, Cotton, Zucchini, Soya (Goofy’s Stand)
- Salmon, Tilapia (Blue Fishing Hotspot)
- Walleye (Gold Fishing Hotspot)
Which Biome to Unlock After the Sunlit Plateau
After completing Sunlit Plateau, you have two options in terms of biomes to unlock: the Frosted Heights or the Forgotten Lands.
While both offer great materials, I recommend going for the cheaper option, which is the Frosted Heights. It costs 10.000 dreamlight to unlock, while the Forgotten Lands cost 15.000.
Also, the Frosted Heights is essential for progressing Elsa’s questline. The Forgotten Lands, on the other hand, cannot be fully explored. There are multiple green flames around the biome that cannot be put out with any current tool.
Thus, Frosted Heights will offer a more complete experience.
Conclusion
The Sunlit Plateau is located just left of the Plaza and costs 7.000 dreamlight to unlock.
It unlocks a wide variety of materials, while also allowing players to unlock the Forgotten Lands later on.
