Cult of the Lamb – How to Beat the Silk Cradle Heretic

Cult of The Lamb is well known for its bosses. Some of them you will have an easy time with while, others can prove much more difficult to beat. That’s why I thought it would be best to show you how to beat the Silk Cradle Heretic in Cult of the Lamb.

The Silk Cradle Heretic will give you a headache each time he kills you! This boss is called Shamura and he is well equipped to defeat you.

That’s why I’m offering you this guide and some helpful tips on how to beat the Silk Cradle Heretic. Let’s see what you’ll have to do.

Battle With Shamura – Attacks

Unlike some of their siblings, such as Heket or Kallamar, Shamura is a boss that the Lamb can play aggressively against.

If you can place yourself correctly and time it right, several of Shamura’s assaults will miss you and you can do a counterattack on his weak point – the stomach.

His biggest friends and your biggest foes will be the Mob Summons. Because of their mobility skills and missiles, they are a little more invasive than the mobs in most other encounters.

You shouldn’t ignore them for long as they can pile up, and you might want to focus on wiping them out first before going back to battling Shamura.

When you see Shamura animating, like he’s about to attack, that means he is doing the Pedipal Smash. This attack strikes largely in front of Shamura, but it has a larger hitbox than it seems.

Position yourself around the back of their stomach area, and you should be able to swing away safely during this strike. Time it properly and you can do a crazy amount of damage!

When Shamura jumps toward you it will be one of his Flying Attacks. There are two types of jumps that you’ll be seeing from him.

One of them can happen at any time during the fight and he will move with his pedipalps on landing, sort of an AoE attack in the area.

The second one is when he takes off his Bandage. This time he will do a big AoE attack by striking in a single wave in all directions.

When he fires the bombs coming out of his stomach it means he’s doing the Spider Bombs attack. You will see flying projectiles all around the area. The key here is to dodge them and to anticipate where they’ll land.

Very similar to this attack is the Poison Bombs that he will be throwing. This time you will be dodging projectiles like the Spider Bombs, but also dodging the stain of Poison that they will leave on the ground.

As his last attack, he will use the Web Up and Slash Down kind of attack. This attack will catch you completely off guard because it comes from off-screen.

Meaning that you won’t see him doing an animation before he casts it. The key to dodging this attack is directly rolling before it strikes you.

Look both ways, and time it properly so you roll under it. It will never scathe you if you do it right.

Key To Beating The Silk Cradle Heretic

The key to beating the Silk Cradle Heretic will definitely be the timing. You will need to watch his attacks and only attack when the time is right.

Dodging his attacks will come first in this battle. Yes, it might take an extra amount of time but you won’t be dying as much. This boss is very vulnerable to attacks but only if timed correctly.

Once you dodge his attacks, only then you will be able to strike down. And when you begin attacking, literally use everything you have. Do the biggest damage outburst you can, then repeat when you’re able to.

Other than dodging all the projectiles coming your way, you can also destroy them by using curses. Kill all the smaller enemies around him so you don’t get distracted, and can focus entirely on him.

A big help before you take this boss on would be to make a sacrifice of a follower for some buffs. Make sure to follow all the attacks and their patterns mentioned above and you’ll be good to go.

Rewards From Beating The Silk Cradle Heretic

Once you beat The Silk Cradle Heretic you will want to pick up the loot that he gives you. Make sure to get the Heart of the Heretic. This is an item that will come in handy in the later stages of the game. Also, he drops a couple of interesting smaller items too.

After this is done you will want to go through the main doorway and give The One Who Waits a little chat, before you’re going to make your way back to your amazingly named Village and Cult.

Who Is The Silk Cradle Heretic – Shamura

Shamura is a spiderlike being depicted as a “God”, and one of the four Bishops of the Old Faith in the “lore” of Cult of the Lamb.

Shamura’s skull was split open during the struggle that locked away The One Who Waits, and they now suffer from fragmented memories, causing them to repeat themselves sometimes.

Shamura’s heavenly brain is always protruding out of their skull, as shown when the bandage slips off during their boss fight.

Conclusion

The Silk Cradle Heretic isn’t as tough as everyone depicts! The biggest problem, when players are facing him, is completely rushing in the first couple of moments.

Yes, you will do a lot of damage to him this way but it will get you killed fast! But if you time these aggressive damage outbursts better, you’ll get to kill him slow and steady.

I hope that this guide was of some help and aided you in your battle with The Silk Cradle Heretic. Do let us know in the comments below, which is the toughest boss in Cult of the Lamb and why. Good luck!
