Ranching and animal husbandry are key parts of Coral Island and learning how to use them effectively can be helpful in progressing the game.
If you’re trying to make money in the game and are in the summer season, consider checking out our guide on the most profitable summer crops in Coral Island.
In this guide, I will list all animals in Coral Island, mention how to get them, as well as how to get products from them.
All Animals in Coral Island

Since Coral Island is in Early Access, animal options are fairly limited. Here are all the animals currently available in the game, as well as their required buildings.
- Chicklets & Chickens – Chicken Coop
- Cows – Barn
- Horses – Stable
These are all the animals in Coral Island at the moment. More will definitely be released in the future since this is above all a farming game.
How to Get Animals in Coral Island

To get animals in Coral Island, players need to buy the required farm buildings from the carpenter and then buy the animals from the ranch.
Each building can be bought from the carpenter at the following cost:
- Coop – 2.000 coins, 100 wood, 50 stone, 5 bronze bars, 10 fiber
- Barn – 3.000 coins, 200 wood, 100 stone, 5 bronze bars, 10 fiber
- Stable – 15.000 coins, 50 scrap, 200 stone, 5 silver bars
In addition, each animal can be bought from the ranch above the player’s farm at the following cost:
- Chicklet – 300 coins
- Chicken – 600 coins
- Baby Cow – 1.250 coins
- Cow – 2.500 coins
- Horse – 8.000 coins
Chickens produce eggs, while cows produce milk. Keep in mind that to get milk from cows, players will need to buy a milk pail from the ranch. Lastly, horses allow for quicker transport around the village.
Since horses are expensive and a late-game luxury, consider checking our guide on how to fast travel in Coral Island, which is a feature available early in the game.
How to Get Hay and Feed Animals

To make sure your animals produce items, it’s essential to feed them daily. For now, all animals require hay to be fed.
To get hay in Coral Island, players will need to purchase two buildings from the carpenter. First, players need the Mill which costs 2.000 coins, 20 scrap, 50 wood, and 2 bronze bar.
Then, they should also get the Silo which costs 2.500 coins, 100 scrap, 300 stone, and 2 silver bars. The Silo helps store hay and makes feeding the animals easier.
As long as you have these two buildings, all that’s left is to collect fiber by using the sickle and cutting the grass around your farm. Just make sure to always leave some grass around, so that it can grow back again.
If you harvested all grass around your farm, don’t worry. You can always buy grass starters from Sam’s General Store. Simply place the grass starters around your farm and wait for them to spread.
Conclusion
This sums up our Coral Island animals guide. Now you know how to get every animal available in the game as well as how to feed them.
Visit the carpenter to build them proper shelter, then visit the barn to purchase the animals. Lastly, construct the necessary buildings to farm hay and you’re all set.
One important part of ranching is the mastery skill, which allows players to gain more products from animals and makes befriending them easier.
