Mining is an essential part of progressing in Wylde Flowers since it allows players to access a wide variety of new materials.
In turn, these new materials allow for some amazing upgrades for tools, buildings, and even magic recipes.
If you’re just starting out and haven’t met all characters yet, check our guide on how to meet everyone and complete the initiation quest.
In this guide, I will explain how to unlock the mines in Wylde Flowers to start mining, and how to get iron ore and ingots.
How to Unlock the Mines in Wylde Flowers
Unlocking the mines is part of the storyline in Wylde Flowers. Specifically, after completing some of the first quests, during your second week on the farm, Natalia will show up in front of your house.
She will mention that it’s possible to repair the old mines if you bring specific materials to Parker. Natalia will give you a quest named ‘Don’t take the Mines for Granite’.
Here are all the materials you’ll need to complete this quest:
- 100 coins
- 10 wood
- 5 stones
Coins can be earned by selling crops and other goods, while wood and stones can be gathered from the ground.
After collecting everything, talk to Parker while he’s at his store and he will start repairing the mines. This will take one in-game day, so finish any other tasks you have and go to sleep.
The next morning, Natalia will guide you to the mines.
How to Progress Through the Mines
Progressing through the mines in Wylde Flowers is fairly straightforward. Players need to keep breaking rocks until they drop the key to unlock the next level.
While simple, it does rely on luck. You may get the key on your first rock, or it might require breaking everything on the floor.
Either way, make sure to bring enough food to restore your energy while mining.
How to Get Iron Ore
Iron ore is the main material found in the mines. It can be acquired by mining any of the darker stones, especially in the first 5 floors of the mine.
Since you have to break these stones to find the key, you’ll be gathering a lot of iron early in the game.
But what do you do with iron ore? Well, in short, you craft iron ingots.
How to Get Iron Ingot
To craft iron ingots in Wylde Flowers, visit Natalia the blacksmith after gathering iron ore. From there, the recipe is as follows.
- 1 Iron Ingot = 2 Iron Ore + 5 Coins
Why You Need Iron
Iron is one of the most essential early-game resources in Wylde Flowers.
It allows players to craft the shovel, progress certain quests, and build certain structures for their basement and work shed.
In short, you’ll always need iron, so make sure to stock up early on.
Conclusion
And that concludes this guide on how to unlock the mines and get iron ore in Wylde Flowers.
Players need to progress the main story quests, gather certain basic materials, and then mine as much as they can to get iron.
