In this guide, I’m sharing key info on upgrading your Furnace in Whiteout Survival, a game I’ve been hooked on for months.
Finding straight-up details on Furnace requirements can be tough, so I’ve put everything I’ve learned in one place to help fellow survivors power up fast.
Why Furnace Levels 1-30 Matter

Raising your Furnace from Level 1 to 30 directly affects your gameplay in multiple ways and is key to your overall success in the game:
- Survivor Happiness: A stronger Furnace means warmer survivors, fewer strikes, and better resource production.
- Game Progression: Each Furnace level lets you build new structures and unlock features that expand your city’s capabilities.
- Resource Management: Better Furnace levels open higher resource-building tiers, bigger intel rewards, and more idle income from exploration chests.
If you’re not at Furnace Level 30 yet, feel free to skip the Fire Crystal info below and jump to the How To Cut Furnace Upgrade Time section.
Fire Crystal Upgrades (FC1 to FC5)
Fire Crystal upgrades (FC1-FC5) open up a whole new set of opportunities:
- Enhanced Power: Each FC level packs a big punch to your total city power and unlocks fresh troop skills.
- Cool New Skins: FC levels add unique skins to each upgradable building, giving your city some extra style.
- Supercharged Troops: Military Camps upgraded with Fire Crystals gain improved troop stats and additional skills.
For example, FC3 introduces extra troop abilities, and FC5 boosts them even more, making your army a real force on the battlefield. Read my full guide to Fire Crystals in Whiteout Survival here.
How To Cut Furnace Upgrade Time
Double Time in the Chief’s House
- Cooldown: 24 hours
- Time Reduced: 20%
- Active Time: 5 minutes
Find this order (Double Time) in the Chief’s House. You can activate it once a day to drop building and upgrade times by 20% for five minutes.
Tip: Use it on major upgrades – like the Furnace – alongside another big building to double-dip on the time reduction.
Hyena’s Skill
- Cooldown: 23-24 hours (depends on Hyena’s level)
- Construction Speed: 10-12% (depends on Hyena’s level)
- Active Time: 5 minutes
Once you hit Furnace Level 18, you can unlock pets. Hyena’s skill can shave off 10–15% of your upgrade times, based on its level.

“Tooling Up” Research
- Cooldown: None
- Construction Speed: Up to +27.80%
- Active Time: Permanent
Maxing “Tooling Up” in your Tech Center can cut construction times by up to 27.80%. If you’re pushing Furnace levels, prioritize this research.
Unlock Zinman
- Cooldown: None
- Construction Speed: Up to +15% (based on skill level)
- Upgrade Cost Reduction: Up to 15% (based on skill level)
- Active Time: Permanent
Zinman is a Mythic Hero with a skill called “Construction Emergency,” which reduces upgrade times by 15%. His “Resourceful” skill also chops 15% off resource costs. Grab Zinman early to save time and materials.

Team Up with an Active Alliance
Join an alliance that focuses on Alliance Tech Research, especially “Adaptive Tools.” This increases everyone’s construction speed. If you’re R4 or R5, make sure to boost that research so your entire crew can level up faster.
Use Speedups
You can snag speedups from daily missions, events, shops, and intel quests. If you play regularly and stick with a solid alliance, you’ll stockpile plenty. Combine all these methods to turbocharge your Furnace upgrades.

Extra Tips for Furnace Upgrades
Upgrading the Furnace shapes your entire strategy. Here are a few more pointers:
Plan Your Resources: Each Furnace level demands a ton of materials. Keep an eye on upcoming requirements so you can gather everything in advance.
Balance Your Builds: Don’t focus on the Furnace alone. Remember to keep other vital buildings and troops growing, too.
Use Boosts and Bonuses: Events or special state bonuses can reduce upgrade times or costs. Plan your builds during these windows for maximum benefit.
Prioritize Key Levels: Certain levels unlock major features, like the Beast Cage at Level 18. Push these levels first for strategic advantages over rivals.
Check Each Level’s Perks: Every upgrade has unique unlocks. Knowing what’s ahead helps you pick upgrades that match your playstyle.
Think Long-Term: Some upgrades may look underwhelming right now but pay off big later. Stay patient and keep your eyes on future goals. For instance, some Furnace Level 30 players might seem weak at first because they haven’t built out everything else. Once they focus on T10 troops and supporting buildings, their power skyrockets.
Track Your Power: Watch how each upgrade boosts your total power. This is a great way to see if you’re ready for harder challenges or PvP.
Watch for Building Events: Sometimes the game hosts events that reward you for upgrading buildings or training troops within a specific timeframe. Align your Furnace upgrades with these events to score extra resources, speedups, and other freebies.
Final Thoughts
Leveling up your Furnace in Whiteout Survival has a huge impact on your city’s success. Use these tips to crank up your Furnace levels more efficiently.
