In Link’s house in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, players have the option to construct a garden pond which seems like a great place to fill with fish.
However, there is only one fish in the garden pond by default and the only way to add more is by using the Mipha amiibo from Zelda Breath of the Wild. And even then, these fish will despawn when leaving Link’s house.

How to Build a Garden Pond in TotK
The garden pond is an optional building in Tears of the Kingdom that can be added to Link’s house. To build a garden pond, players need to talk with Ganteson and request it.
It will cost 300 Rupees and a few seconds for the garden pond to be placed.
However, you’ll notice that when placed, the garden pond will have a signal Sanke Carp swimming inside and nothing else. Due to that, players have been wondering if it’s possible to add more fish to the pond.
How to Add Fish to the Garden Pond in TotK
The only way to add fish to the garden pond in Tears of the Kingdom is by scanning the Mipha Breath of the Wild amiibo.
As long as you scan it while in front of the pond, it will fill up with various fish. However, this is only a temporary solution. If you leave Linkk’s house, all the fish will disappear and you’ll have to scan the amiibo again.
Unfortunately, there is no other way to add fish to the pond. Any fish caught in Tears of the Kingdom die immediately, so there’s no way to place them in the pond and keep them alive.
For now, we can only hope for the garden pond to be more useful and allow for greater variety in future updates.
