Try and defeat any enemies you’re not interested in and only leave alive the 1-2 foes you want to recruit. Then, bring them to low HP and get as close as possible with your Beast Tamer.
Then, use the recruit option and hope for the best. Keep in mind that even then, your chances are fairly low (around 25%), so you’ll probably have to try multiple times.
If it fails, use the rewind feature and try again. When rewinding, make sure to try and recruit the enemy unit from a position different from your previous one (e.g. if you tried to recruit from the tile on its left, now use the one on its bottom side).
If you try and recruit from the same tile, the result will always be the same.
