Prestige is one of the most important mechanics in Military Incremental Complex and even though I touched on the matter in my Military Incremental Complex guide, I wanted to get more in-depth and share a guide dedicated to Prestige alone.
In this article, I will tell you when to Prestige and, most importantly, what options to put your Prestige points into for maximum gains.
When to Prestige in Military Incremental Complex

If you played idle or clicker games in the past, you know that the Prestige mechanic means “let’s start over, but with some important boosts activated.” These boosts are activated by spending your points on various permanent upgrades.
But when is it best to prestige in Military Incremental Complex?
I found that the best approach is to prestige when you have 2 new points unlocked (although on your 2nd or 3rd run, you will get to 3 relatively easily).
The game recommends Prestiging every 2-4 points, but I was never able to even consider getting that 4th point without spending way too much time hunting for the right upgrades. So 2 (or 3 at most) is the right spot.
NOTE: You can always change the Prestige upgrades you have bought. So if you truly messed things up and progress seems impossible (it usually isn’t, but requires a lot of play time), you can optimize things by simply choosing different options and Prestige even if you have zero new points.
This is not recommended generally, but in extreme cases, it’s the better option. I had to do this once, too, in the early(ish) stages of the game, when I didn’t really know how those upgrades truly affect gameplay.

Best upgrades to buy with Prestige Points (and When)
Here are the things I chose, and I recommend you choosing the same for your first runs, in this order:
Ammo Surge – the essential first purchase, as it increases both the amount of ammo made, as well as their sale price
Gold Plated – boosts income through Golden Weapons
Unpaid Overachievers – boosts research rate, and fast research becomes essential quickly
Muscle Memory or Positive Feedback – these are both related to getting boosts from manually producing weapons. Take the former for more passive income and higher gains over the long term (auto weapon production increases based on manually produced units) or the latter if you want that income boost (although you must constantly produce weapons manually to keep the bonuses)
At this point, you unlock tier 2, and you can either replace some of the ones above just invest in new ones. Here’s how to spend the next 3-5 points:
Clone Kaboom – essential for quick progress (you start with Grenades and mines and other boosts)
Cascading Automation – for more automation upgrades in the later game stages
Team Building – Start producing researchers passively (although at a very slow rate… but better than nothing).
Think Tank (higher prices based on Research points – useful later in the game) or Sign Twirling Interns (make more money) or Auto Mines, if unlocked (better production).
This is when you unlock Tier 3 and when a re-evaluation of your strategy is probably needed. You better understand the game right now, and you can make more educated choices based on your play style and how much time you spend actually playing the game vs AFK-ing.
Make sure to combine the Prestige Point upgrades you have unlocked with the right Research options to maximize those boosts, as well as any manual production bonuses if you went after those.
