Arc System Works and Sony Interactive Entertainment dropped a highly technical brawler on our laps with Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls – a game where simple button mashing might not work.
There are plenty of combos and moves for each character, and memorizing them will take time – and that’s up to you to do. But what I will do now is list the combo moves for three of my favorite characters so far: Black Panther, Blade and Captain America.
Choose your favorite, start by learning a few, then move on to learn even more of these moves for getting that upper hand in battle.
Note: Every heavy skill variant for these three fighters drains 25 Skill Gauge. Burning that meter blindly leaves you completely defenseless, so plan your moves ahead! Let’s check them out below.
Marvel Tokon Black Panther Moves & Combos

Black Panther features 11 Moves. Her entire kit revolves around balancing two different meters and if you mismanage her Heart-Shaped Herb state, you become a liability.
The Core Skills (25 Skill Gauge for Heavy Versions)
- Spear of Bashenga (Quarter Half Circle Right + Light/Medium/Heavy): An essential projectile that works in the air. The aerial version strikes at a sharp downward angle. Always follow this up directly with Bast’s Blessing.
- Wild Hunt (Z Right + Light/Medium/Heavy): This kick is your anti-air savior because it gains invincibility to aerial attacks partway through the action. The Medium and Heavy versions lock the opponent into a follow-up attack on a successful hit. You can activate Bast’s Blessing right after it.
- Predator Arts (Quarter Half Circle Left + Light/Medium/Heavy): She attacks to the front with her spear and adds an additional strike. The Heavy version triggers the Break effect. I recommend using the Light version for a low attack and the Heavy version as an overhead for a filthy mixup.
- Predator Arts Aerial (Quarter Half Circle Left + Light/Medium/Heavy): Done mid-air, she swings the spear above her head. Heavy triggers the Break effect, while Medium and Heavy slam your opponent directly into the floor.
- Vibranium Daggers (Down + Light/Medium/Heavy): Shoots multiple projectiles downward, and you can cast it in the air. Medium and Heavy give you additional hits. The properties change completely if you execute this during an aerial Bast’s Blessing.

Her Command Normal requires holding the Heavy button to thrust her spear for a mid-range strike. Fully charging the input alters the blowback effect on your opponent.
The Gauge Game: Bast’s Blessing and The Herb
- Bast’s Blessing (Unique Button): This agile movement technique requires the Bast’s Blessing Gauge. You generate gauge by attacking or by holding Divine Rite (Left + Heavy) to project a defensive barrier. A successful guard also charges the meter.
- Heart-Shaped Herb (Quarter Circle Left, Quarter Circle Left, Right + Medium + Heavy): This Ultimate Skill triggers a small shockwave and enters her into a powered state. It consumes all accumulated Skill Gauge (costing 100 to 150) and fills your Bast’s Blessing gauge proportionally. During this state, your Blessing gauge slowly bleeds out over time, but using the Bast’s Blessing move costs zero additional gauge. Activating this mid-combo alters the blowback and gives you a shorter recovery window. The state terminates the moment your gauge hits zero.
- Bast’s Fury: Performed with the exact same input as the Ultimate, but only works while the Herb state is active. She performs a frontal strike and a follow-up. Beware that using this immediately terminates your Heart-Shaped Herb state. Performing the Ultimate during a Link Attack automatically triggers this move.
- Warrior Queen (Quarter Half Circle Right + Medium + Heavy): Her Super Skill launches the enemy into a brutal series of attacks. It normally costs 50 Skill Gauge. However, doing this during the Heart-Shaped Herb state drops the cost to zero and deals additional damage, though it abruptly ends your powered state.

Marvel Tokon Blade Moves & Combos

Blade brings a massive kit of 20 Moves to the fight. Playing Blade means constantly fighting for the Marked for Death state.
Vampire Skills
- Bullet Barrage (Quarter Half Circle Right + Light/Medium/Heavy): Fires machine gun projectiles. The aerial version shoots downward. Always follow up with Heart Stopper when it connects.
- Vampire Slayer (Z Right + Light/Medium/Heavy): A devastating slashing attack granting you aerial invincibility partway through. The Light version strikes at an upward angle, while the others perform a series of slashes. Being in the Marked for Death state adds bonus damage and blowback.
- Vampire Cleave (Quarter Half Circle Left + Light/Medium/Heavy): A lunging slash that pierces and charges right through your enemy on hit. The aerial version strikes downward. This also receives the Marked for Death damage and blowback buffs.
- Glaive Strike (Down + Light/Medium/Heavy): Tosses a projectile that flies forward and returns in a straight line. The hitbox stays active on the return trip. I threw this blindly and realized you cannot use it again while it is active. Once it touches Blade, the cooldown resets instantly.
Stakes and Supers
- Heart Stopper (Unique Button): Throws silver stakes that automatically track the opponent’s position. You can manually aim with directional inputs to throw them faster. This expends one Heart Stopper stock. Use Up the Stakes (Down + Unique) on the ground to instantly refill your stock to maximum.
- Daywalker Deflect (Left + Unique): A guard action that automatically counters if you block an attack from the opponent’s leader character. Landing a successful guard instantly activates the Marked for Death state to power up a single Skill use.
- Bloodlust (Quarter Half Circle Right + Medium + Heavy): His Super Skill lunges forward with a weapon flurry. Costs exactly 50 Skill Gauge.
- Muramasa Moon (Quarter Circle Left, Quarter Circle Left, Right + Medium + Heavy): His Ultimate Skill costs 100 Skill Gauge. He fires a projectile followed by a massive strike. Landing this at close range magnifies the damage output heavily. A successful hit grants you Marked for Death for your next two Skills.

Marvel Tokon Captain America Moves & Combos

Captain America also has 11 Moves. Master them below:
Patriotic Punishments
- Shield Strike (Quarter Half Circle Right + Light/Medium/Heavy): Tosses the shield as a projectile. The Medium version flies at an angle, while the Heavy version hits at extremely high speed. Once thrown, you can rebound it by striking it with a Ricochet Volley.
- Soaring Justice (Z Right + Light/Medium/Heavy): An upward leaping strike granting anti-air invincibility midway through the animation. If you do this in the air, you are entirely locked out of using it again until you land on the ground.
- Freedom Charge (Quarter Half Circle Left + Light/Medium/Heavy): A forward lunge. The Medium version functions as an overhead attack to catch blocking opponents from mid-range. The Heavy version triggers the Break effect. The aerial version dives to the ground. The slight delay before the strike is perfect for baiting the enemy into whiffing an anti-air attack.
- Shield Shock (Down + Light/Medium/Heavy): Punches the floor to generate a low-hitting shockwave. It destroys opponents who refuse to crouch block.
Mastering the Shield Geometry
- Trick Shield (Unique Button, Right + Unique, or Down + Unique): Throws the shield in a highly complex trajectory. The mid-air version only uses the Unique or Down + Unique inputs. Just like Shield Strike, the tossed shield bounces back if hit with Ricochet Volley.
- Ricochet Volley (Unique Button, Air OK): A strike attack specifically designed to rebound a thrown shield. If the strike itself or the rebounded shield hits the enemy, you can cancel straight into a Skill.
- Shield Guard (Left + Unique): Guards against any attack that can be blocked while standing. Guarding an attack from the opponent’s leader character triggers an automatic counter-attack. A successful guard gives your shield toss attacks a power-up for a single use. You can cancel this stance at any time by inputting + or by using Trick Shield.

Super and Ultimate Strikes
- Living Legend (Quarter Half Circle Right + Medium + Heavy): His Super Skill executes a fierce strike following a lunge. It costs exactly 50 Skill Gauge.
- Sentinel of Liberty (Quarter Circle Left, Quarter Circle Left, Right + Medium + Heavy): The Ultimate Skill demands 100 Skill Gauge. Cap performs an invincible strike followed by a massive series of hits. Connecting with this move grants a permanent power-up to all of your shield toss attacks for the rest of that round.
