Best Perks for your Mercenaries in Jagged Alliance 3
Jagged Alliance 3 includes a wide variety of traits, talents, and perks. For this list, we will focus on the five best perks in JA 3 for your mercenaries.
5. Lightning Reactions
Lightning Reactions is one of the most consistent defensive perks in JA 3 as it allows your merc to instantly drop prone and dodge a shot once per battle.
If you have any mercs will low Strength that can die easily, this perk is a must-have.
Additionally, going Prone is a great way to get cover in the middle of the battlefield, even if there is no hard cover around you. For more details, check out our guide on how cover works in Jagged Alliance 3.
Vanguard is a simple and extremely effective defensive perk that grants your merc 15 Grit when ending a turn without cover or next to an enemy.
Grit works as a shield that protects the merc from taking damage and can be seen as a light blue bar over that merc’s normal health bar.
The best part is that characters don’t get any wounds if their grit is getting depleted, so they can keep fighting normally without any debuffs.
3. Total Concentration
Total Concentration is the ultimate scaling perk as it increases your attack damage by 30% after a kill for every next shot until you miss.
As long as you combine this perk with a high-accuracy weapon and a merc with enough AP, you’ll always be dealing 30% more damage.
This can help take down an enemy squad, even single-handedly.
Flanker allows you to deal 15% more damage against Flanked enemies. If you set up for combat properly, it’s easy to get behind enemy lines and flank them.
Thus, you can have a consistent 15% damage increase that’s going to stay during the entire fight. Combine this with Total Concentration and watch your merc pop off.
1. Shock and Awe
Shock and Awe will cause your Morale meter to be High when starting combat. Additionally, you will deal 10% more damage overall when your Morale meter is High or Very High.
Combine with secondary talents and traits that increase Morale like Find My Feet and Optimist to keep your morale high after the first rounds and you’ll be able to make the most out of Shock and Awe.
To sum up, these are the best perks for your mercs in JA 3. If you can get those, you’ll be able to make your playthrough easier as your mercs will be more efficient.
Keep in mind that almost every perk in the game can be useful, with some being more situational. Thus, you can make use of anything you get.
