How to Catch Stardew Valley Crimsonfish (Legendary Fish)

The Crimsonfish is one of the legendary fish you can catch in Stardew Valley. It’s a difficult one to get, but I am here today to share with you a complete guide on how to catch and everything else that you need to know about this fish.

After the 1.5 update to the game, there is now a total of 10 legendary fish you can catch. Except for “The Legend,” you can only catch a legendary fish once in a game (or once per player in multiplayer).

Unlike most of the other fish in the game, the Crimsonfish has a specific time and place that you need to know in order to be able to capture it. You also need to meet certain requirements to catch it.

The Crimsonfish can be found on the east pier of the ocean. Getting there, you need to build the bridge on the other side of the ocean which is 300 wood.

Just go to the east/right corner of the ocean and start fishing. You will be able to catch this fish during the summer season. Its drop rate is very low, so you will have a bit of fishing to do to get it.

We have talked about Legendary Fish in Stardew Valley in my previous guide about The Sewers – make sure to check that article out when you’re done reading this one.

There are special requirements that you need to fulfill in order to catch a Crimsonfish, apart from being lucky and finally getting one to bite.

Here are all the things you need in order to have a chance at having a Crimsonfish bite when you go fishing:

  • You need at least fishing level 5 in order to be able to catch it.
  • You need to be at the far east end of the beach (past the small bridge that requires 300 wood). Any location on the eastern pier will do, but that’s about it.
  • The bobber must be positioned in water with a Fishing Zone of at least 3, which means it must be at least four tiles away from any land (including the pier) in every direction.
  • If your bobber lands in Bubbles, you can see a Crimsonfish one tile closer to land (Zone=2). All of these requirements must be met to increase the chances of catching a Crimsonfish by 18%.

How Much Is the Crimsonfish Worth?

After catching this legendary fish, its final price will depend on its quality, as follows:

  • 1,500g base price
  • 1,875g for silver
  • 2,250g for gold

Apart from price, the Crimsonfish will vary in size – anything between 19 and 21 inches.

You can also use the Crimsonfish to boost yourself, and when you consume it, it will allow you to gain 38 energy and 17 health.

Stardew Valley Crimsonfish Tips

Tips to catch Crimsonfish

While catching this legendary fish is a matter of luck (to have it bite) and regular fishing skill, there are a few other things that you should consider in order to improve your chances of actually catching one when it finally bites.

Here are my tips for increasing your chances of catching a Crimsonfish in this game:

  • Upgrade your rod before fishing. Ideally, use an Iridium rod. The Crimsonfish is a really difficult one to catch!
  • Keep watching the TV and when the fortune teller appears to say that your luck is high, go fishing for it!
  • In order to increase your chances, make sure to always use bait. You should also have any of the lead bobber, trap bobber, or cork bobber. Read my guide on how to attach bait to your fishing rod to learn all about it.

Conclusion

The Crimsonfish is a nice Legendary that you should try to get in Stardew Valley once you progress a bit into the game.

While you can easily enjoy the experience without catching it, it does feel good to know that you were able to catch such a difficult fish.

Hopefully, this guide will help you increase your chances to a maximum and you’ll be able to capture it with more ease.
