Hogwarts Legacy: Solved by the Bell Quest Guide

“Solved by the Bell” is an end-game hidden side quest in Hogwarts Legacy that awards gold and the Treasure-Seeker’s Longcoat.

However, it can only be unlocked while progressing another quest and requires solving a tricky puzzle to complete it.

In this Hogwarts Legacy guide, I will explain how to begin and complete the “Solved by the Bell” quest.

How to Begin the Solved by the Bell Quest in Hogwarts Legacy

To begin this quest, players will have to start and progress another side quest first. The quest is called “Rescuing Rococo” and it begins at Bainburgh by speaking with the vendor Agnes Coffey.

You will need to progress this quest until the final room before being able to begin “Solved by the Bell”.

For the first puzzle, use Incedio on the left statue and then use Accio on the cube to move it on the circle with the fire symbol. Then, use Incendio on one cube and Glacius on the other to open the door.

Defeat the Ashwinders in the next room and head up and right. For the next puzzle, there will be a stone floor that will teleport you back whenever you step on it.

To progress, use Arresto Momentum on the floor.

Defeat the Ashwinders again and look for the two missing cubes. One is in the room on the right side, and the other is above, on one of the balconies.

In the room where one of the cubes is found, you’ll also find the Musical Map, which begins the Solved by the Bell quest.

Place the cubes in their spots and use Incedio on one and Levioso on the other to unlock the final door where Rococo is located. Use the Nab-Sack to capture Rococo and bring him back to the vendor to complete the “Rescuing Rococo quest”.

With the map now unlocked, you’re able to progress the Solved by the Bell quest. Let’s see how.

To progress this quest, you’ll be tasked to “Use the Musical Map to find the treasure”. However, there is no quest marker or directions to guide you.

For this quest, travel to Clagmar Castle as shown in the map below, and get ready to defeat all the Ashwinders there.

After clearing the area, locate one of the surrounding towers that has nine bells on it. You’ll have to use basic attacks to ring the bells in a specific order. Here’s the right order:

  1. The bell on the bottom right
  2. The third bell down on the left
  3. The second bell down on the left
  4. The second bell down on the right
  5. The third bell down on the left
  6. The top bell on the left
  7. The top bell on the right
  8. The second bell down on the right
