Genshin Impact Aggravate Reaction Guide [How to Trigger & More]

The Genshin Impact 3.0 update has finally introduced the use of the Dendro elements in the elemental reactions, increasing the utility and damage ceiling of Electro in battle through the Catalyze reactions – Quicken Aggravate and Spread.

The introduction of this element into the current roster can significantly change the viability of certain characters and team combinations, shaking up the balance and meta.

The Dendro element can react with most of the other elements, creating deadly combinations that give you a notable advantage in combat.

So, which element do you use with Dendro to trigger the Aggravate reaction? Is the Aggravate reaction overpowered? Are there other reactions better than Aggravate reaction?

I’ve had these questions in my mind for a while, so today, I’ll cover all of these in this article, so that you have a clearer idea about the new Aggravate reaction in Genshin Impact 3.0.

Genshin Impact: Aggravate Reaction

Since we know that the Aggravate reaction depends on Dendro, let’s start with that.

Dendro reacts with several elements and produces various elemental reactions.

Genshin Impact Elements

Reaction with Pyro produces the Burning reaction, dealing Pyro damage per tick for a short while.

Dendro also reacts with Hydro, producing the Bloom reactions, which spawns a Dendro Core. This reaction can be further progressed with the addition of Pyro or Electro, which leads to “Burgeon” and “Hyperbloom” respectively.

The reaction that we are looking for, however, is the one involving Dendro and Electro. This leads to the elemental reaction of Quicken.

Once the enemy is affected by the Quicken, attacking the enemy again with an Electro attack leads to the Aggravate reaction.

Moreover, you can also hit the enemy using the Spread reaction if you apply the Dendro on the Quickened enemy. The damage increase of these reactions are sick and is amazing for both Electro and Dendro DPS characters.

Here’s an extremely useful chart of all the Dendro reactions in the game that I found on Reddit.

Genshin Impact Quicken Reaction Stats

The Quicken reaction itself doesn’t do any damage. Instead, it applies a Quicken aura to the enemy, which is needed to trigger Aggravate or Spread which can increase flat DMG or potentially CRIT.

Genshin Aggravate Formula

Dendro + Electro = Quicken
Quicken + Electro = Aggravate

The Electro attack that triggers Aggravate is given a flat DMG bonus. This bonus is based on the level of the attacking character and the Elemental Mastery of the character who triggered the Quicken reaction (more EM means more bonus).

This flat DMG bonus is affected by Electro Damage bonus and can also CRIT, making it even stronger!

I think you can become dangerously strong if you combine this Aggravate reaction with the top Electro characters, such as Raiden and Yae Miko.

Genshin Spread Formula

Dendro + Electro = Quicken
Quicken + Dendro = Spread

Spread is the other reaction that depends on the Quicken reaction and can be a great addition for Dendro characters.

It functions the same way as Aggravate – the Dendro attack that triggers Spread is given a flat DMG bonus, which is calculated the same way as in Aggravate.

The only difference being a slightly higher damage multiplier (Aggravate has a 1.15 multiplier to Spread’s 1.25). But, the bonus behaves the same way, so it’s affected by Dendro Damage Bonus and can CRIT too!

Two more bow characters, Tighnari and Collei, have been added to the game and their element is Dendro. The Spread reaction can do wonders if used right for these characters.

Tighnari

Note that Spread and Aggravate do NOT consume the Quicken aura. Aside from the game’s internal cooldown timer on elemental reactions, you can continue to trigger both reactions until the aura runs out, and will not have to reapply Quicken each time!

Is the Aggravate Reaction Overpowered?

While there’s more left to the Genshin Impact 3.0 update, I still don’t think the Aggravate reaction is overpowered just yet.

It does add powerful offensive potential to Electro characters, after being underrated for quite some time.

The Electro characters deserve love and the Aggravate reaction provides enough of a buff for them to be employed more often in combat.

Electro Characters

While Spread is slightly stronger than Aggravate the Dendro Spread reaction, our current Dendro characters aren’t on top of most people’s wishlist, and it will certainly help future Dendro characters find a foothold faster.

With further updates and patches, the character meta will keep on changing but I have a strong feeling that the Dendro and Electro characters will play a major role in the upcoming metas.

Wrapping Up

Genshin Impact 3.0 update is a gift that just keeps on giving! From the exciting lore of Sumeru to the Fragment of Childhood Dreams Domain, it has been quite the ride playing this new version.

The addition of the new Dendro element and characters has revolutionized how we play the game and will cause a huge shift in what characters are considered strong.

Personally, I’m very excited about the upcoming patches and can’t wait to see what changes come next!

What do you think about the Aggravate reaction? Do you think the stats do justice to Electro characters? Or should the Devs improve the potential of the reaction? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below!
