Can You Recruit Sean in Fire Emblem Engage?
The short answer is no. While Sean has an active role in the paralogue story Budding Talent unlocked in Chapter 6: The Stolen Ring, he is not a recruitable character.
Therefore, other than meeting him in this Paralogue story, players won’t be able to see more of Sean or have him join their party.
However, during this paralogue story, players get the chance to recruit a character that strongly resembles Sean: his son, Jean.

While you can’t recruit Sean, there is the option of recruiting his son, Jean. To recruit Jean, players will need to complete Chapter 5: Retaking the Castle of the main story and then unlock and complete the paralogue mission Budding Talent.
Simply have Alear interact with Jean and he will join your party. Even if you forgot to talk to Jean during the battle, he will still request to join you afterward.

Based on that, the best class for Jean is the High Priest since it increases his overall healing effectiveness. Alternatively, for a more offensive playstyle, Jean can also work as a Martial Master, due to his high Attack stats and Staff utility.
Similarly, the best Emblems for Jean are the support Emblems of Micaiah and Byleth. Micaiah is ideal for healing, while Byleth offers great buffs to allies.
