This list of the best tips and tricks in Factory Town Idle will help you get started and make the most out of the early game.
The game includes a surprising amount of detail, and there are many non-so-obvious tips and game mechanics that are easy to miss.
To help you with everything, this guide will go through some tips for both the early and late stages of the game.
Best Tips and Tricks in Factory Town Idle
Without further delay, here are the best tips and tricks in Factory Town Idle.
Focus on Building Steam Locomotives
Trading is essential to cover all resource needs between your cities, and at some point, trading posts become insanely expensive.
Steam Locomotives will raise the transfer rate of a town’s tradeposts and allow you to get all the resources you need without having to spend a fortune on tradeposts.
Respecc
If you reach a point where you’re not producing enough resources or are missing something, you can always consider respeccing and investing your points elsewhere.
This will help you increase the production of certain resources and progress through chokepoints in the game.
Avoid Transfering Tier 1 Materials
If you have a lot of cotton in one city and want to transfer it to another one, do not transfer it as cotton.
Since cotton can only be used to make cloth (2:1 exchange), it’s more efficient to convert it to cloth first and then transfer it. This way, instead of transferring, e.g., 100 cotton, you’ll transfer 50 pieces of cloth at half the cost.
The same is true for Sugarcane, Wool, Mana Crystals, and any other item that is only used in one recipe.
Utilitize Each Town’s Benefits
Each of your towns will have unique bonuses and penalties. It’s important to utilize bonuses and produce materials in towns where they are more efficient to make based on these bonuses.
Don’t Forget to Have Fun
As an idle game, the most important tip in Factory Town: Idle is to relax and have fun. There’s no reason to min/max everything, as you’ll get there eventually. Don’t get too stressed, and prioritize having a good time.
Extra Tips and Tricks from the Developer
Additionally, in a recent Steam guide the developer has included a list of tips and tricks to help you progress more easily:
- Auto-Assign: Using the circular green arrow symbol on each building will cause it to produce materials until the production capacity is full.
- Expand/collapse headers: You can right-click on a header to expand or collapse it. The same works with quests.
- Cycle through towns: Use Ctrl and left/right arrow to cycle through towns quickly
- Use hotkeys: Most panels have hotkeys to make everything easier to access: R for research, C for construction, T for town perks, and more (based on the first letter of the word).
- Change Delta: You can hold shift to change Delta to 5x and Control to change it to 10x. Holding both changes it to 50x.
For these tips, we thank the developer Erik Asmussen. To check their list that includes additional tips and leave them a rating, here is their Steam guide.
