CS2 Quick Switch Bind – How to Make It Work

In this guide, I will go over how to make the Quick Switch Bind work for CS2. The Quick Switch was a feature in CS: GO that many players heavily relied on.

With the release of CS2 people noticed that this feature was missing among the many things both old and new.

Players will want to enable the Developer Console from the settings, and set up the console command, to get back the Quick Switch feature.

If you are a player who loves CS: GO, and you are on the fence about trying this new version, check out our guide of the 5 reasons to play Rainbow 6 Siege instead of CS: GO, before deciding how to spend your free time.

Counter-Strike 2: What is the Quick Switch?

Veterans to CS:GO will know about it, but since the new version could bring new players into the game let’s go over what the Quick Switch is in CS2, once more.

By default the game wants players to double-tap the button in order to switch weapons.

A quickswitch bind will switch to your knife, and then quickly back to your weapon when the binded key is pressed.

This bind is commonly used by players who use AWPs, scouts and in some cases deagles to instantly switch to their knife and then back to their gun after firing a shot.

Though it does not offer any advantage in terms of recoil, or the time until another shot can be fired. However, it means that the AWP and SSG-08 will not go back to the scoped view after the shot has finished firing.

It also has a bonus feature of allowing players to see any knife skins they may have.

Before going about adding the console command to add back the Quick Switch feature, you will need to enable the Developer’s Console.

To enable the Developer’s Console in CS2, go to the game’s settings by clicking on the gear icon.

Go to the game tab, and look for the Enable Developer Console (~) by changing it from No, to Yes in the drop-down menu. After that, you will have access to it at the push of a button.

While in the game, you will need to press the “` button”, which is right above the “Tab button” on the keyboard.

When you press it, the Developer Console appears on the screen, and you can enter console commands to perform various tasks. We want it open, to add The Quick Switch bind feature.

Here is what you will need to enter to make the feature work.

  • alias +qsw “slot3”
  • alias -qsw “lastinv”
  • bind “G” +qsw

If the “G button” doesn’t work for you, then you can change it to whichever key you want. Just make sure it is not used by some other keybind.

By setting this command to the button you want, you bind Quick Switch. This way you can switch between your last weapon and your knife faster.

Keep in mind, that by using the Developer’s Console you are not going to get banned.
