Mining is one of the key activities in Coral Island, essential for progressing in the game.
Ores gained from the mines are needed to craft certain key items for your farm and complete quests.
The mining system can seem complicated at first but, especially for those who have played Stardew Valley, things are easier than they look.
Other than mining, Coral Island features bug-catching. If you want to learn more about how to unlock the bug net and catch bugs, consider checking out our relevant guide.
In this guide, I will explain how to unlock the mines in Coral Island and get bronze, while also showcasing how the mining system works.
How to Unlock the Mines
On the fifth day of spring, a cutscene will occur when the player leaves their house. In this cutscene, Mark will mention that the mines are operational again and players are free to explore them.
The mines can be found by heading up from the farm and then going left. There is a sign there named ‘Cavern’.
When first entering the mines, another cutscene will occur where Kira will give players a basic sword. While it ain’t much, it helps deal with some of the monsters in the early floors of the mine.
But how do you progress through the mines in Coral Island?
How to Progress Through the Mines
If you’ve played Stardew Valley, progressing in the mines works in a similar way. Players need to break rocks until they find the passage (hole) to the next floor.
However, the passage spawns in a random location each time, so there’s no easy way through. Keep breaking rocks until you eventually find the passage.
Also, you can only save your progress after every 5 floors. So, if you reach floor 4 and are out of energy, sleeping for the night will cause you to get back to floor 1.
If you want to progress through the mines, make sure you have enough energy, and some food, to move through 5 floors on each run.
The amount of energy you’ll need depends on luck. If you find the passage in the first few swings, you may be able to progress through 10 floors.
How to Get Bronze Ore
Bronze is the first ore found in the mines and can be found in any of the first levels. However, finding bronze is based on luck.
One level in the mines can have 5 bronze ores, while another may have none.
The best way to get bronze ore in Coral Island is by exploring the first levels of the mine and gathering any bronze ore in your way.
How to Make Bronze Ingots
Bronze Ingots are essential for upgrading your tools, completing quests, and progressing in the game in general. To craft ingots, players will first need to craft a furnace, which can be crafted with the following materials:
- 40 Stones
- 20 Bronze Ores
For one bronze ingot, the recipe is as follows: 1 Bronze Ingot = 5 Bronze Ore + 1 Coal.
If you have all the materials, place the bronze ore in your hands, the coal anywhere in your inventory, and interact with the furnace. Smelting will take some time but will result in a bronze ingot.
As for coal, players can gather coal in Coral Island by mining any of the rocks in the mine. They have a low chance of dropping coal.
Conclusion
Now you know how to unlock the mines in Coral Island, progress through the floors, and mine bronze ore.
Mines are unlocked on the fifth day of spring and to progress through the floors, players need to break rocks until they find the passage to the next floor. Bronze ore can be found all around the first floors of the mines.
Another key early-game quest is crafting a makeshift scarecrow. If you can’t find how to unlock its crafting recipe or are struggling to collect enough trash to build it, consider checking out our relevant guide.
