This Castle Crashers character tier list will review all characters in the game and showcase the best ones to help you decide what to pick.
Overall, the best characters in the game are Red Knight, Fencer, and Blue Knight.
Let’s go through all characters in turn, from best to worst, and explain them in further detail.
S-Tier Characters (Best Characters in Castle Crashers)

S-Tier characters have amazing damage, combos, and magic. They are ideal for every scenario, and their great kits make them stand out.
Keep in mind that tier lists are, to some extent, subjective. Thus, you should try out as many characters as you want and then settle on your favorite one. A great starting point are the S-Tier characters:
- Red Knight
- Fencer
- Blue Knight
Let’s explain in further detail why these three are considered the strongest characters in Castle Crashers.
Red Knight
The Red Knight offers exceptional magic damage and solid melee damage. He has great combos and can juggle enemies easily.
Due to that, he’s ideal against common and elite enemies and bosses alike. Even if an enemy has magic resistance, the Red Knight has enough melee damage to take them down easily.
Fencer
The Fencer is the best character in Castle Crashers when it comes to fighting bosses. His magic can deal phenomenal damage and melt bosses within seconds.
Additionally, his normal throwable is easily spammable, which makes it a great option against smaller enemies.
Blue Knight
The Blue Knight is one of the most unique characters in the game. He can freeze all enemies (except large bosses) and keep them permanently frozen during combat.
Also, he has solid AoE damage and great elemental infusion, which allows him to freeze enemies with melee attacks.
A-Tier Characters
A-Tier characters are also great options that are almost as good as S-Tier ones, with the only difference being slightly lower damage.
- Beekeeper
- Industrialist
- Iceskimo
- Bear
- Snake
- Ninja
- Pink Knight
- Fire Demon
- Peasant
B-Tier Characters
B-Tier characters are solid options overall but slightly more situational than options in the higher tiers.
- Gray Knight
- King
- Brute
- Saracen
- Connehead
- Snakey
- Necromancer
- Hatty Hattington
C-Tier Characters
C-Tier characters are all-around average. They have okay kits and damage but nothing too special to make them stand out.
- Orange Knight
- Cult Minion
- Barbarian
- Royal Guard
- Skeleton
- Stoveface
- Open Faced Gray Knight
D-Tier Characters
D-Tier characters are exceptionally weak and have major shortcomings compared to other characters, thus making them overall worse than every other character.
- Green Knight
- Thief
- Alien
- Civilian
Wrapping up
To summarize this Castle Crashers character tier list, the best characters to play are the Red Knight, the Fencer, and the Blue Knight.
However, almost all characters are worth using, so I highly recommend trying out as many as you can. After all, tier lists are partially subjective, and you might have more success with a C-Tier character you like than with an S-Tier one you don’t like.
