Re Rangers X Tier List (Formerly Anime Rangers X)

It’s no surprise that Re Rangers X (known as Anime Rangers X) is so successful: after all, it lets you draft legends from your favorite shows and toss them into the ring to see who wins.

But nostalgia and personal preferences are not enough here – this tier list for Re Rangers X is, because it will show you which are the absolute best units in the game, based on the most recent update.

So, no matter if you still call the game Anime Rangers X, or you have gotten used to the new name, I am listing below the absolute best (and explain why I ranked them where I did).

And, for once, I decided to do something new and only list the best tiers instead of the completely useless units in the lowest tiers – I know you probably don’t read this, but if you do, I would love to read in the comments if you prefer this approach to tier lists, or you’d like me to stick to the old ways and list all characters.

What Makes for a Great Unit in Re Rangers X

As the meta changes constantly with each update, the things below will always stick and they will always make a character amazing.

For starters, raw damage per second from basic attacks and abilities is probably the most important number to look for. If a unit cannot deal a ton of damage, they’re generally weak. Of course, traits and passives carry characters from decent to godlike, with Sovereign being the absolute gold standard.

Spawn limits and send cooldowns also matter. For tanks, for example, a low send cooldown combined with high speed and low range means they will reach the frontline before getting destroyed.

Finally, mastering the economy is important because spawn and upgrade costs can break your early progression entirely, as some units have excellent scaling but demand perfect money management.

With these in mind, let’s see which are the best characters in Re Rangers X right now!

S-Tier Characters

These are the units that can actually break the game. If you manage to pull them, you’re winning.

The Prodigy (Manifestation)

The Prodigy gains energy by landing hits and absorbing damage, snowballing his already excellent stats as the match drags on.

His ultimate copies the passive abilities of whatever unit sits in your fourth slot, allowing for amazing synergies, and he even drops a massive summon at max energy.

Jane Bullet (Blast)

This character gains reduced ability cooldowns the further away he sits from the action, and his ability damage spikes the longer he holds off on casting.

His ultimate stuns him, but the resulting DPS buff is astronomical until he finally casts again.

One Arm Pirate (Emperor)

For raw, unadulterated numbers, this guy sits on the throne. His base stats are massive, and he triggers his ability purely through critical hits. With the right gear, his damage loop feeds into itself.

Holy Rider (Trap)

This unit operates in a similar lane to Emperor, granting himself passive crit rate and crit damage while applying crowd-control stuns.

The catch is that his DPS falls off a cliff if you let him live past his passive window, so you actually want him to die to cycle his utility efficiently.

Shadow Summoner (Ritual)

Meat shields that also kill things are a pet peeve of mine. Still, this one floods the board with summons that absorb hits while dishing out respectable ability damage.

Triggering his ultimate is notoriously difficult, but it supposedly spawns even beefier minions.

Bunny (Full Moon)

She operates as an evasion-tank. Bunny stuns enemies simply by dodging their attacks and packs an HP passive that makes her functionally immortal against standard mobs.

Her DPS scales the longer she targets a single enemy, making her a slow but inevitable boss killer.

Explosion Girl (Mage)

If you want to clear the screen from another zip code, she is your artillery. She commands the highest range in the roster, and her passives alongside her ultimate push that range and DPS even further.

Her only flaw is the crushing financial cost required to place and upgrade her.

Esper Kid

He takes a darker approach to combat, scaling his damage and range whenever allied units die nearby.

His ability triggers automatically when an enemy breaches his radius, but he damages your own team in the process. Pair him with units that want to take friendly fire.

Hawk Swordsman (Hunter)

He relies entirely on ability damage, scaling wildly off critical hits, but he completely lacks a basic attack.

Thorn Queen (Silent)

She handles single-target elimination by stacking bleed effects and buffing her survivability. The downside is that she takes a full 30 seconds to activate her passives fully.

Carrot

While not all fans of the game agree with this placement, she still is one of the best raw damage dealers across the entire game.

A-Tier Characters

These characters can carry you through most content, but they demand specific setups or suffer from noticeable flaws.

Curse King (Shrine)

He excels at boss melting by stacking bleed and slapping a vulnerability debuff on targets, backed by incredible base attack speed.

However, his ability damage feels surprisingly weak, and his upgrade costs are punishing.

Claw Boss (Bloodlust)

This unit pairs beautifully with Esper Kid because he constantly damages his own allies.

This triggers on-death or damage-taken passives for the rest of your squad while scaling his own ability damage over time.

Strongest Man (Gura)

He is a bizarre sprinter. His stats are massively inflated at the start of a round, making him the ultimate farming unit for short stages. The longer the match goes, the weaker he gets.

Trash Collector (Cleaner)

He feels average until you equip him with the Seraph and Duplicator traits. Seraph outright doubles the bonuses of all equipped gear, turning him from a mediocre mid-game pull into a powerhouse that feeds on the deaths of nearby allies.

The Fool (Star Ring)

He ramps up his critical chance and damage with every single hit, drawing additional power from his allies.

Without heavy attack speed investment, though, he takes forever to wind up.

Virtual Swordsman (Stardust)

This is a secret rarity unit that requires incredibly long stages to stack his passive damage buffs. He is basically useless in quick farming runs but invaluable in endless modes.

B-Tier

I didn’t want to list B-Tier characters, initially, but these are still somewhat usable.

Units in this bracket are not great, but they are technically functional if you are completely desperate – so here they are:

  • Magma Admiral (Magu)
  • Waka (Destruction King)
  • Joka (Truth)
  • Berns (Turth)
  • Fire Fist (Mera)
  • Solar Fist
  • Black Reaper
  • Black Mask (Scorpion)

One final thing

Not every slot in your team needs to be a Sovereign-traited damage god. Madara and Gogeta still hold their ground as high sub-meta picks for players who have not lucked into the newer Mythics.

Buffs and debuffs also play a major role in any setup – it’s not all about pure damage dealing, in the end.
