Brawl Stars is an awesome mobile top-down shooter game in which players battle each other to reach a certain objective. It has a bunch of different game modes to choose from and each one has a different objective.
Today, we are going to explore a few tips and tricks for Brawl Stars, so that you can improve your gameplay, or if you are a total newbie, to start off in the best way possible!
To be honest, this article is more focused on tips than actual tricks, but they work just as well to help you get those trophies and improve your Brawl Stars skills. And once you’re done reading this guide, I recommend getting more in-depth with my previous guide to Solo Showdown in Brawl Stars.
Know your modes
There are various game modes in Brawl Stars, each with its rules and objectives. Some will only be available for a limited amount of time, while others will be rotated. The main ones are:
- Gem Grab is a 3 vs 3 player mode in which the objective is to claim and hold onto the Gems.
- Showdown can be split between solo and duos.
- Bounty is a 3 vs 3 player mode where you collect stars, which is done by eliminating opponents.
- Heist is also a 3 vs 3 player mode, but this time you have to protect your safe, and try to break your opponents’ at the same time.
- Brawl Ball is a mode that, simply put, is soccer with guns.
If you are playing Showdown on a map full of grass and hideouts, then a Brawler focused on short-distance combat, like Bull and Shelly, will give you much more of an advantage than a Brawler that fights long distance, such as Brock or Dynamike.
This brings me to my second point: some Brawlers are better for specific modes.
Choosing the right Brawler for each objective
I get that most of you already know this, but I’ve had my fair share of playing with teammates who pick terrible Brawlers for the chosen match, which sadly leads to terrible losses or, at best, incredibly hard-won victories.
So this tip is as simple as it gets: choose the right Brawler for the game mode you are playing.
For example, if you plan on doing a solo Showdown, choosing a Support Brawler with low damage like Poco is a terrible idea. It will create a huge power difference between you and your opponents.
Don’t fear Showdowns with strangers
If you are a new player or have less than 400 trophies, doing Showdowns with strangers can be a great way to make friends or allies.
Each victory grants up to 10 trophies, but the main focus here is getting acquainted with good players, so that you can play together in the late game, which also leads us to my next tip.
Make friends
Eventually, everyone plays a bad match. It happens to everyone, so don’t sweat it.
My tip here is that you should look out for players that use good strategies, regardless of the result of that specific match. If you are lucky enough, you’ll find a friend or two that will give you a trophy boost by playing along.
Really get to know your Brawlers
As you get new champions, I would advise establishing a minimum number of trophies for each one. Why, you ask?
Well, not only does it help you understand the new Brawler more deeply, but it also gives you a trophy boost.
Knowing how to play as each Brawler also helps you understand how to play against them, which is also helpful.
Don’t underestimate the training arena
Use the training arena to practice fighting with your Brawlers, or to try out new ones you don’t have in your collection just yet. Learn when to fight and when to run.
Having good decision-making and map awareness is ultimately what decides who wins and who loses. Get to know your Brawler, its strengths and weaknesses, and you’ll get an enormous advantage in real matches.
Manual aim is better than auto-aim
During my matches, I see a lot of players failing easy shots because they simply don’t take the effort to aim.
Doing so often leads to enemies managing to escape and heal up, when it would have been easy to finish them off if the player was landing their shots.
So take your time and aim. If you are surrounded or don’t have the chance to aim, then it’s best to wait for the next best opportunity.
Putting community maps to good use
Use competitive and community maps to do missions with the champions you absolutely do not wish to risk trophies with.
In my particular case, I find it exceptionally hard to get trophies with Mortis, so I always take advantage of competitive maps to do his missions.
I also use these maps for mission modes I like the least, such as Brawl Ball. Plus, it’s a good way to show some love to the map creators.
So there you have it, my list of tips and tricks for Brawl Stars! What other tips would you have for fellow Brawl Stars players who are just starting up?
