Choosing the best hero in Era of Conquest is a difficult task, with over 30 characters to choose from. But it’s a task I’m up for today, when I am ranking all the heroes in the game.
The best heroes in Era of Conquest are the Legendary, 6-star ones like Alexander the Great, Emperor Constantine or Saladin. But all 6-star heroes are better than the more common ones.
To make this article as complete as possible, I will share both the tier list below (which is less useful, in my opinion) and sets of best characters for their different roles.
How did I create the list of the best heroes in the game? Well, I went through a very time-consuming process of adding up all their skill stats (Attack, defense and so on), and compared them.
Then, I looked at their base skills and Leadership level to have the most complete overview of all heroes – and the best possible Tier list you can find online.
Era of Conquest – Tier List
I am dividing the heroes in the game into three categories – Tier S (the absolute best), Tier A (good ones) and Tier B (not so great ones). Let’s start!
Note: For the legendary heroes, I will also write down the sum of ALL their starting stats, at level 1.
Tier S Heroes
- Alexander the Great – 325.51 (Best Hero in Era of Conquest)
- Emperor Constantine – 318.95
- Saladin – 308.92
- Peter I – 302.75
- Charlemagne – 296.78
- Frederick I – 294.66
- Hannibal – 288

Tier A Heroes
For Tier A (which are still VERY good heroes and you should use and develop them), I will also list a few EPIC (5-star) characters which are really good.
- Cleopatra – 283.41
- Oda Nobunaga – 282.54
- Guan Yu – 282.37
- Leonidas – 279.94
- Harald Fairhai – 277.05
- Richard I – 272.29
- Toussaint Louverture
- Ying Zheng
- Hermann (you can get him from one of the best starting civilizations in the game)
- Joan of Arc
- El Cid
- Ragnar Lodbrok
- Baybars
Tier B Heroes
We have a few very disappointing Legendary heroes in Tier B, including – surprisingly – Caesar and most of the 5-star ones.
- Pachakutiq – 270.12
- Caesar – 259.20
- Queen Seondeok – 256.31
- Empress Theodora – 244
- Pericles
- Mary Tudor
- Tachibana Ginchiyo
- Darius the Great
- Scipio
- Li Shimin
- Hojo Tokimune
- Yi Sun-sin
- Boudica
- Ivan IV

Best Era of Conquest Heroes for Attack
To make things a bit easier for you – as the list above might not be enough, I am listing below the best Era of Conquest Heroes for attack (the best offensive ones), as well as the best support heroes in the game.
We’ll go more in depth with this in the upcoming guide to line-ups in the game, but until then, the lists below will come in handy, as I will go more in depth with each hero chosen.
Saladin – best offensive hero
Starting skill: Ayyubid Eagle Forces
Description: For the first 4 rounds, ~65% chance for Batter effect. Gains +1 Normal Attack every round and decreases all DMG dealt and healing effect by 25%.
Frederick I
Starting skill: Iron Crown
Description: After a Normal Attack, launches a Physical Attack to 1 target for massive damage. If own forces are over 60%, launches a second attack dealing a bit less damage, but still massive.
Peter I
Starting skill: Czar’s Attacking Army
Description: Deal 1 Physical Attack against 1 enemy unit (reduced damage) and either Silence or Disarm them. Chance of skill triggering starts at 100%, dropping by 15% for each successive trigger.
If the target is already debuffed, the trigger rate won’t drop, but your forces will be given Urgent Aid. Finally, whenever Peter’s troops are attacked, they heal a small amount of health.
El Cid
Starting skill: Sun Knight
Description: Launches 1 Physical attack to 1 enemy, dealing massive damage. If target is Burned, even more damage is dealt.
Other notable heroes with great attack stats: Richard I, Toussaint Louverture, Guan Yu, Harald Fairhai and Ragnar Lodbrok.
Best Support Era of Conquest Heroes
Now, let’s check out the best defensive or support heroes in Era of Conquest. These are best used as secondary commanders or tertiary ones in your line-ups, offering boosts, buffs and debuffs.
Alexander the Great
Starting skill: Birth of Achilles
Description: During the first 4 rounds of the battle, medium chance of inflicting Taunt to 3 enemies per round. Also, decreases self’s all DMG received by a small percentage.
Emperor Constantine
Starting skill: Varangian Guard
Description: At the start of the battle, small chance of slightly decreasing enemy unit damage. Also chance to taunt 2 enemy units. Finally, whenever it’s hit by Normal Attack, increases all DMG dealt and healing effect of a random ally unit.
Charlemagne
Starting skill: Paladin Regiment
Description: Launch 1 tactical attack to a single enemy unit. If the target is already controlled, increases own probability of casting Active skills in this round.
Oda Nobunaga
Starting skill: The Great Unifier
Description: For every Active skill cast, launches 1 tactical attack to unburned enemy units first and inflicts Burn effect to them. If the target is already burned, deals additional damage.
Other great heroes in this category include Hannibal and Cleopatra.

Final words
Now you know which are the best heroes in Era of Conquest – and not just from a generic tier list point of view, but also based on their suitability for Attacking or Support / Defensive duties.
To sum things up, the best heroes are usually the 6-star ones (although some are really bad choices, as you saw above), with Alexander the Great, Emperor Constantine or Saladin being the best ones in the game.
