There are various routes to the generator, and you’re free to choose any route you want. I recommend the outer route, since only a few enemies are roaming there and it’s fairly easy to spot them from a safe distance.

If any enemy spots you and you’re getting chased, drop the fuel and go around until you lose them. The fuel is fairly heavy and you won’t be able to outrun an enemy while holding it.
Once you find the generator, insert the fuel, flip the switches on both sides, and pull the rope to start the engine.

After that, go through the door that just opened and follow the objective marker to return to the shuttle. Push the button, avoid the enemy that shows up, and escape.
