Marriage is an essential part in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life as players can’t progress past Chapter 1 without marrying someone.
The game has eight romanceable characters and players are free to marry any of them, even including same-sex relationships.

All Romanceable Characters in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life
There are eight romanceable characters in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. Here are the four bachelors:
- Gordy – Artist
- Gustafa – Bard
- Matthew – Farmhand
- Rock – Partier
And here are the four bachelorettes:
- Cecilia – Farmhand
- Lumina – Pianist
- Molly – Waitress
- Nami – Traveller
Since same-sex relationships are possible, you can choose to marry any of the eight characters.
Now that you’re aware of the options available, let’s examine how to romance and marry a character.
Romance Explained in Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life
To romance and marry a character in SoS: AWL, you will need to raise their Heart Levels. Keep in mind that Heart Levels and Friendship Levels are two different things that increase in the same way: by talking to the NPC and giving gifts.
Heart Levels will disappear from all NPCs after the first year when you choose to marry someone. Friendship Levels will remain.
Also, Heart Levels can increase by triggering Heart Events, which occur by visiting various places around the map once you increase a character’s Heart Levels up to a certain amount.
However, these Heart Events are completely optional. While they will increase Heart Levels faster, they aren’t essential for proposing and marrying someone.
Lastly, after increasing Heart Levels, you can propose to the NPC of your choice with the Blue Feather (given automatically when summer starts). You will have until the Day 10 of Winter to decide which one to marry.
If you don’t decide, Takakura will enter your house on the last day of Winter and give you a list of four marriage candidates. These will be the four NPCs with the highest Heart Levels at that point.
You must choose one as you can’t progress in the game without being married.

To marry a character, increase their Heart Levels and give them the Blue Feather gained at the start of Summer.
