Stardew Valley: Fighter vs. Scout – Which One to Choose?

In combat level 5 in Stardew Valley, players have to choose between the Fighter and the Scout profession.

Overall, the Fighter profession is more useful as the 10% damage buff is stronger compared to the 50% increase in critical chance that the Scout offers.

In this guide, I will compare the Fighter and Scout professions in Stardew Valley to help you decide which one to choose.

What Does the Fighter Profession Do?

Fighter vs Scout profession in Stardew Valley.

The Fighter profession increases your damage by 10% for all weapons and gives an extra 15 Health.

This is an overall solid upgrade and you can never go wrong with it. It doesn’t limit your playstyle or weapon choice in any way, so it’s a safe choice.

What Does the Scout Profession Do?

The Scout profession increases your Critical Hit Chance by 50%. While it does sound like a huge buff, it actually isn’t. It doesn’t give you a 50% chance to critically hit. Instead, it increases your current chance by 50%.

So, if you currently have a 4% chance to critical hit, the Scout will ramp it up to only 6%.

Depending on the phase of the game you’re in, this profession can go from completely useless to extremely helpful. However, it is situational.

Fighter vs Scout in Stardew Valley – Which One is Better?

Fighter vs Scout profession in Stardew Valley.

Overall, the best level 5 combat profession in Stardew Valley is the Fighter. This is because the 10% damage increase and 15 Health will always be useful.

Instead, the Scout becomes useful only when your character has a high enough Critical Hit Chance on its own. Thus, the Scout is only good during the late game and even then, only in certain scenarios.

As for level 10 professions, if you chose Fighter, you’ll have the options of Brute (+15% weapon damage) or Defender (+25 Health). In this case, the Brute is the best choice, as it stacks up with Fighter and will give you 25% extra damage in total.

If you chose Scout instead, you’ll be called to decide between the Acrobat (50% reduced secondary attack cooldown) and Desperado (double damage with Critical Hits). Here the Desperado is the best choice by far, as the damage increase is significant.

Wrapping up

In conclusion, the Fighter profession is the better choice in Stardew Valley as it results in more damage compared to the Scout profession.

Combined with the Brute bonus at level 10, you’ll end up doing great damage consistently to all enemies without relying on Critical Hit Chance.
