Reverse 1999 is a complex game with plenty of options – and especially strategies that you can use in battle, so a bit of help never hurts.
This is why in today’s article, I will share the best Reverse: 1999 tips and tricks that you need to better understand the game and ultimately to play better.
In this strategy guide, we will focus on the strategy element of the battles – since these are the most important in the game, but we’ll cover all the basics that you should know in order to both enjoy the game and get the most out of it.
1. Focus on developing the best characters

While early on during most of the first chapter missions you won’t have many options available in terms of characters to develop, you will soon have more than four to choose for – and definitely some better than others.
While there are many things to consider when it comes to choosing the “Best” character in Reverse: 1999, usually the higher star ones are better than the lower star ones.
If you have a 6-star or more, then those will definitely be your best. Focus on leveling them up first as you won’t have enough resources to max level ALL the characters you will unlock (nor does it make sense).
For finding out which are the best characters in the game, I recommend reading the Reverse: 1999 tier list I published (opens in a new tab, so you can read after you’re done reading this strategy guide).
2. Always consider strengths and weaknesses

Make sure to bring and use characters that are strong against the enemies you’re facing.
Like in most games of this type, we have a rock-paper-scissors system in place, in which a character is strong against an element and weak against another.
A good strategy here is to try and bring the best DPS characters against the element type you’re facing, while the others (the supports) are of any other element that you have.
3. Merging cards is the key to victory

When two cards of the same type are close to each other, they automatically merge in a two-star card of the same type, improving its stats. And you need two 2-star ones for a 3-star card.
This merging element is extremely important, so consider your options well: the best way to merge is to use attack cards in between the ones you want to merge (not to waste moves).
But if you have one or more cards that are REALLY good and far away, you can simply drag them to get them merged, even if you lose one of your in-game moves.
PRO TIP: If you don’t like the starting set of cards you’ve been dealt, you can tap the Pause button in the upper right corner, and click on Restart. The battle will restart with a new set of starting cards.
4. Don’t forget to change targets in battle!

This is extremely important to make sure that you take care of the biggest threat first or that you take advantage of your character’s strengths.
I recommend focusing on taking out one enemy at a time though (instead of dealing damage all over the board) because this way you have one less character dealing damage to your own.
But always consider who you’re facing and, whenever it’s needed, change the target for getting ideal results.
5. Complete all the daily missions and challenges

Resources are difficult to come by, even though it might seem that’s not the case early on.
But all the goodies you can get for free are more than welcome, so make sure you complete the daily missions (as well as any other types of missions in the game) constantly.
And if you want more freebies, make sure to check out my list of Reverse: 1999 codes where you have a few that give you in-game items for free.
6. Get the most out of all the special in-game events

These are even better than the daily and weekly missions, as they usually have much better rewards.
There are plenty of Special events taking place at all times in the game. Make sure to focus on completing them to grab those amazing goodies!
7. Get your guaranteed 6-star character!

Although free summons are really difficult to get a hold of, you will get there eventually.
What I recommend doing is summoning 10x each time (the first time, you will get a 6-star) and then get a guaranteed new one for every 30 summons.
So be patient, hoard up those items for summons and put them to good use to improve your rooster.
8. Know (and prepare for) what your enemies will do during their turn
The icons above the heads of your enemies will tell you what they’re about to do in that turn.
Based on that, you can adjust your strategy, especially if you have a character that can disarm or freeze them.
9. Get your main characters to level 30 ASAP
After getting your 10 free summons (which is after completing stage 1-11, so not a LOT to wait), focus on getting your rarest characters to level 30 ASAP.
That is when you will increase their Insight level, which comes with additional goodies, like better stats for one skill and better overall stats for that particular character.
10. Unlock the Wilderness ASAP
The Wilderness is unlocked once you complete the first in-game chapter and it is essential for the development of your heroes.
It basically generates resources constantly (like an Idle game), so the sooner you unlock it, the sooner you will start generating those resources that you need to level up your characters and do better in the game overall.
Conclusion
Put these Reverse: 1999 tips and tricks to good use to play a better game and build the perfect team. Patience is required for most of them – so take your time and enjoy the ride!
