Remnant 2 One True King Choice Guide – Normal and Alternate Kill Rewards
As you’re trying to beat the One True King boss in Remnant 2, it’s important to know that there are two ways to kill it: the normal and the alternate way. Each requires a different approach and yields different rewards.
Normal Kill
For the Normal kill, you must kill the One True King while his giant mace weapon is still intact. This will reward you with the Agony Spike material, which is needed to craft the Monarch weapon.
Keep in mind that you can break the mace at any point since it will regenerate after a while. The only thing to keep in mind is that the weapon has regenerated when you land the killing blow.
Alternate Kill
For the Alternate Kill method, you must defeat the One True King in Remnant 2 while his mace weapon is broken. The weapon stays broken temporarily, so once you break it you need to move fast.
This will award you with the Tormentor’s Pommel item, which is used to craft the Wrathbringer weapon.
Other Optional Drops
Whether you decide to defeat the One True King with the normal or the alternate method, there are two more items you can get. These can be obtained regardless of which kill method you go for, as long as you make the right choices.
First, you can get Nimue’s Blood-Marred Vow if you agree to kill Nimue when first interacting with the One True King and then change your mind when talking to her to receive Nimue’s Vow.
After defeating the One True King, bring Nimue’s Blood-Marred Vow to Nimue and you’ll receive the Gift of the Unbound, an Amulet that disables negative effects of Burden Rings but restricts max HP by 20% for each effect disabled.
The second optional drop is Burden of the Departed. You can get this item by defeating the One True King while wearing the Burden of the Divine Ring.
Burden of the Departed is a Ring that increases damage dealt by 10% but reduces your total relic charges.
